I am starting to get an idea why we haven't yet seen DFX5.![]()
Wow, I'm liking a lot of your ideas!!!
Can you tell me what alarm system you're using for the remote start??
My Fiero is an 85 2m4 sport, 5-speed isuzu... it's slow, but it gets good gas mileage. I haven't decide where the screen is going yet, probably on top of the air vents... maybe fiberglass it in there. Or I might cut the dash and fit it in there.
I guess I'll be making a work-log soon and post pictures and details.
I'm liking where you're going with this! And very much interested in the taillight mod! Good luck! and take lots of pictures!!!

It is a Viper alarm I bought and had installed at Best Buy in my Eclipse that I totaled a year ago. I had a friend take it all out of the car at the impound lot. I couldnt do it myself, as it was just a couple days after the accident, and I was laid up with 4 broken & 2 cracked ribs, mild concussion, and body aches everywhere else you could think of. Now it is going to be a LOT of fun to try to figure out how to wire it all back up in the Fiero!
I have also been working on the skin, just not as much for sure![]()

That's just sweet. Takes me back to high school and an old buddy of mine driving 70 miles and hour across White Sands. The rims look great. I 'm still curious how you are mounting all the sound hardware and a computer.
LOL I just did 90% of my install in my CR-V and I feel like an old man now.
Keep posting please..

Ok, I figured I had better do an update here, as it has been a while.
Ok, not all that much has been done really, except ordering a lot of little parts here and there. I should have some new blue leather lower door panels showing up here in the next couple of days, from Mr. Mike.
As I am doing a custom center console, I have been collecting all sorts of switches from BMW's, Accura's and the likes for replacement power mirror and window controls. I like back lit switches, something the Fiero did not have.
I have also been slowly taking parts and painting them to accent the engine bay, such as the air filter canister, Top motor mount (Also known as a "Dog Bone" on the Fiero, Distributor cap and the likes...
Here are some of them all painted up to look pretty
I also found some nice blue plug wires that I custom made to the exact lengths so there is no excess wire laying around. Also some nice wire "posts" in chrome to hold them away from the engine & exhaust, plus wire separators painted in the same blue as the above parts.
I finally met with a painter, and looks like it's gonna cost beteen $2,000 and $3,000 for the paint job! I guess you get what you pay for, as I am certainly not going to do a "Maaco Special" on it, but that is a ways down the road.
If anyone know of someone else in this area, that is a good paint guy, that you can recommend, please let me know! It should be a prety easy spray job to do, as I will have ALL of the molding, windows, lights, tail lights, quarter windows and the likes removed from the car. This should make it a LOT easier for the paint guy not having to tape everything off.
I have been looking for that "Perfect blue" for some time. I have seen a couple of cars that I liked, but nothing I could take to show the painter for a sample. That is until I was in the grocery store, and spotted a aluminum water bottle on the shelf! LOL It is the blue I have been looking for!
It is not the same exact shade / color in this picture as it is in person, but gives a general idea:

I'm doing the same thing with my Indy (all new console) so I feel your pain.
Consider mounting the power mirror control in the small square vent location over on the left dash side (the vent location the driver hits with his knee when exiting). That's where mine will go. I found a square control from a 1989-1992 T-Bird that fits nearly perfectly.
(Damn I gotta get a worklog going soon...)
I've always liked the late model GT Fiero's. I remember reading an article years ago about how they managed to shoehorn a Cadillac Northstar V8 in one of those babies! That thing would fly!
Well, a minute with google and...

You are never done installing a CarPC.
john, I am really concerned about the copyright problem that this color could cause to you with an infamous member of the forum, "ZX someone" hehehehe![]()
