1986 Fiero GT 6cyl [Work Log]

Well, it's about time! Got the car running today, and its running smooooothhhh :)

Suprising that it is only a 6 cyl when you rev it up, has a pretty big throaty sound to it. You can't really hear the low end bass sound on the iphon'e mic, but trust me, it sounds NICE :) A friend of mine once explained to me that she knew what that sound was I am describing. She simply said "That is what testosterone sounds like" LOL


Now just to hook my laptop up to it and set the timing and all the little tweaks and such. After that's all done, it will be about time to take it to the paint shop...

Very nice project! I've always liked the Fiero even though they only had a short production run. Love how you are restoring this, and really like that headlamp conversion. Keep up the good work and keep the pictures coming!

So far nice job. That Fiero is gonna be super nice when you are done(blue is also my favorite color...will be following this thread, cause I want to see the finished product). Just out of curiosity, how much on average does it cost to get seats reupholstered? I'm looking to getting the front seats in my 300m done.

I went through a gay knows as "Mr. Mike" and purchased seat covers from him. They are NOT your typical seat covers! They are leather, and takes a good few hours to install. You have to take all the original upholstery off, disasemble the seats back from bottom, remove frame rails ect ect. You then use hog clips to put on the new covers with a special tool. It's the same thing that would be done if you took the seats to have them covered at a local shop, just cheaper to do them yourself.
I don't know if he manufactures covers for your car or not, you can have a look at his site for styles and prices.

LOL, I sure did not meant to out someone hahah! damn typo's. I will have to leave it in there now, as it has been quoted, and wouldnt make sence to anyone if I change it.

I meant to say:

He is extremely good at upholstery, and does top notch work. If you Google "Mr Mike" it is in the top 3 results if that says anything.

Not too much to update, things have been on hold here, as it has been a brutal summer! Things started finally cooling down a few days ago, and I have started back at it again :)

I removed the sunroof, to find, even though the car is fiberglass, that a metal track was used for the seal in the sunroof track. I have removed the track, and cleaned it all out, and am waiting for the new track, seal, bolts, and hardware to get here Monday morning.



The area in green was the initial portion of the track I took out. It has all since been removed. The yellow circles are where the rivets were holding the track in.

In the mean time, while I wait for the parts, I will probably finish up carpeting the interior this weekend.
