Most car's I've owned over the years have had a dash cover... And I'm not from oz... I always had them to cut down on the reflected heat of the summer sun. Makes a HUGE difference. It actually surprises me that it surprises you...

hi holmesie;
i have triton too, and planing car pc. how do you open the plastic part for the touchscreen?
and is your screen readible when it is sunny? i guess it is not transflective, but the position of the screen is somewhat away from direct sunlight(with coverings) so do you advice a transflective or standart touchscreen?
thanks
G'day sinisa,
The plastic surround comes off by pulling as it is held in by plastic clips - pull it towards the rear of the car (do not pull upwards!)
My screen is not transreflective, but it is LED backlit - I have not had a problem yet with direct sunlight. AT the time I could not afford a transreflective screen, but I don't regret that at all!
hope that helps
