i'm still not sure on keeping the subs-- if you check the pics, you can see how small the box and trunk are-- the subs called for a min of about 0.5cu ft. of airspace, and that box gets me roughly 0.30cu ft. for each sub, with a wall between the subs.. most of the kicker dealers that i talk to tell me that they like to double whatever kicker recommends to get good sound-- so i barely have enough room for 1 sub, if i were to remake the box...

i lined the walls with fiberglass, and it helped cut the resonances a little, but the reality is that the box is just way to small for the subs..

after running some freq. sweeps, i have the subs set for 30-50hz. any lower and they can't play it, and any higher and i can hear where the subs are...

i briefly ran the hds mids with only a 2.5khz hp, and no lp to see what would happen, and they never ran out of steam, even with some T.I. playing at "Rapper approved" levels

Cant say i like were you mounted the pc under the seat, but i do like the car!!! Aside from the kicker sticker nice install!

thanks!! i wanted to put something there, and the kicker sticker fit (it's a theft deterent!! :LOL: ).. i am not particularly crazy about it, but there really isn't anything else to put there(i considered a jl, intel, or zotac sticker..), and the space is kind of blank...

i took a little bit of a drive today and decided that i am way to competitive at stoplight db drags(only if they start it!!), and too much of a bass-head to ditch the subs, but i do need to do something about them.. my current setup lacks in a lot of areas, mainly, that "turn it down, i can't breath!!" feeling...

many ideas are floating around now:

a active/passive 8 or 10" setup? i could try this now, but i would need to hack up the one box that happens to fit in my trunk...(i have the mdf for a custom box, just not a decent table saw, and space...)
a single 12? no room for active/passive 12's..
some free-air 15's? 1, maybe 2 if i could fit them..

the active/passive setup should get me some better low end, but won't dig as deep as the 15's..

the single 12 might work, it just won't dig as deep as 15's, and won't be able to be as quick as the 8's/10's..

the 15's would definitely dig low, but i don't know how i'd mount them...

I used to have a single 12L7 in my eclipse and it sounded great, hit hard as hell, of course i have a hatch huge difference in SPL levels, of course a single L7 15 in a sealed enclosure would probably blow the lid off your trunk....

just a little bit of a update-- i FINALLY got my gas door done, and mounted-- this project has been going on for almost a year now-- i had taken the original off sometime last year with plans to paint.. about 3 mo. ago i found a eclipse in a local junkyard, so i grabbed the gas door as well, so i now i have a extra..

anyways, the continuation of the "project that never ends!"

my new top is getting installed this coming tues, so after that, i will probably start taking off the faded/matte black metal trim around the top to update that to a glossy black-- mostly so it won't hold any more wax!!

i also added some trunk lighting-- some generic strips from a local auto parts store--the difference is that these use plcc2 smd led's so they are a little brighter:

so i can finally see things in my trunk!!

time for a update!!

i'm bored-- just starting to put together a new gaming system(asus sabertooth x58 w/ i7--950 model, 6gb ram) so waiting for software to install...

my carpc is working fine, all except yesterday when it unexpectedly turned off in the middle of a trip to Fry's-- after reslotting the power connector, it came back fine..

the audio processing needs a little work-- i get some odd dash reflections from the new tweeter locations that need to be re-eq'ed, and i am not sure that my mids and subs are transitioning the way i desire them to..

i have started modifying my taillights to have a more open look:

i have also started researching parts for making my own led tails..

at the moment i am waiting for parts... i put in a smaller(<$100) order for digikey for some small project parts-- some sharp voltage regulators for any auto led projects, some capacitors for the vregs, some smaller smd led's(i am hoping they will work good as a dome light) and some capacitors for some monitors that my work was throwing out because the power supply for the ccfls has some bloated caps..

in the mean time, the chicago area got about 4" of snow, and my brothers were kind enough to help pile it up at the end of the drive way.. so, like any mature adult, i did what anyone bordering on insanity would do.. i grabbed my rc truck, and smoothed out the pile to make a ramp.. (it must be the kid inside!!)

after i got the ramp smoothed nicely, and getting about 4-6' of air, i decided to grab my camera, and got a couple of nice shots before i killed all my batteries:

i am kind of dissapointed though--i went full manual to get the quality i wanted, but it took way longer to setup, and i didn't get as many keeper shots as i normally do.. i guess i need to use my camera more..
