Damn work gets in the way of everything...has it really been that long ?
Have to download the latest version of RR then get DVDs working.
Back again.
Getting everything ready for the final install into the car.
Made a power cable to use the spare HDD connector from the M2-ATX to give 12V for the screen and 5V for the DVD drive.

G'day Mate,
Was wondering how you were going... stumbled upon this site when looking at options for the wife's Xie.. I've used those P700s quite a bit... few tips....
1. win7 won't run out the box... you need a new BIOS... i can give that to you.. but graphics has poor support.
2. Not exactly sure which model you're running but if it's the P700, scrap the CF flash idea... use a SATA SSD
3. Temp will kill you! on a hot day.. even warm day, the thing will give up... defiantly route an AC duct to it!
4. I've given away with x86 stuff these days, when low power, small footprint and reliability... look at an ARM based system... and if linux isn't your thing... some even support windows mobile... although win8-4-arm is almost out.. I may already have it..
Have a look at Toradex Colibri T20 (think there is even a pico mother board) it's a Dual core Tegra2 uses bugger all power and will work a treat. Love em!
there is an android distro there too... plenty of mapping software to run there!
anywho... my two bobs worth!
Thanks Dan...
I am using the PX1000G. This was the smallest MB at the time I started looking and collecting bits.
The CF idea was a cheap, easy initial option to test the concept of the small form-factor in-DIN replacement I wanted...same with the amps before the MP3car micro-amp board came out.
I like to use RideRunner so I don't think Linux and ARM processors are options for me.
Thinking I might need to upgrade to a dual-core pico with all the movie stuff as it is a little jumpy with the RR inbuilt player so I'll check out the Tegra2.
Always open to suggestions as I don't know everything on offer out there![]()
