    Keep going!

I'm impressed by your work, and I do think you chose a nice model to play with... so much open trunk space... well there was.
I do think that's one of the nicest/cleanest looking kits out there for the Tibby. You should look into the NGM Sniper/Assassin or Enforcer(if you're unfortunate to have the 2L in there), that'll help you haul all that stuff around.

    • great attention to detail -- fit and finish
    • a firm push on the envelope
    • interesting technique on the digitized the controls
    • overall, the tasteful excess (is that an oxymoron?)
I think you were very smart to digitize convenience items, but not functionally-required items. In other words, if the digital controls malfunction, your ride isn't going to leave you stranded. I can screw around with all sorts of stuff on my car, but it's a daily driver, and I can't make it unreliable. You've done a good job of getting up close to the line, but not crossing it.

Well, until you added the NOx . . .

Thanks again for the comments guys, much appreciated.

Sargeants, i think its gonna be a while before I can afford a supercharger, lol, but its definately something im interested in. for the future.

Relatively easy job this evening. Ive had bucket seats in the car for a few years and decided to re-upholster them for this install, there's no doubt they're comfy but they dont wear as well as factory seats.

Anyway, i actually re-covered them a few months ago but made a bit of a mess of cutting out the holes for the harness' so today I corrected the mistakes and gave them a bit of a clean ready to go back into the car before too long. Here's a photo along with their sub-frames, dont know why they look grey/worn at the bottom, they're brand new, lol, just the photo:

Here's a pic of them in the car a year or two ago along with another 'mod' that is still to be re-installed. See if you can guess what it is, lol.

Did someone say 'pushing the envelope'? lol
    Jon

P.s. I know this isnt related to the carpc, but its definately part of the overall install so its being posted

lol, they're extreemly comfortable, far more so than the seats that were in there originally. I prefer to feel properly 'strapped in' when driving, dont like having to hold onto something when going round corners, apart from the steering wheel that is, lol.

They look great. I've considered new seats for the Scion; about 400 miles into a trip, I think my behinder parts are going to fall off.

How are yours for long trips? Do your buns fall asleep?

nope, they might look light on padding but they've got it exactly where it's needed.

To be honest, the only downsides to having seats like these that ive found are

    1. Takes a bit longer to get in/out of the car (i.e. using the harness)
    2. Passengers who've never used bucket seats before take even longer, lol
    3. If you buy standard buckets then let's just say that those of a 'heavier' build just plain wont be able to fit in them.
    4. As mentionned previously, the upholstry is not as hard wearing as standard seats, but as also mentionned, they can be replaced.

    i'd reccommend them

    update:

Didn't anyone notice the roll cage in that last photo? lol. Here it is with some subtle hints:

I was surprised that no-one commented on it, i mean i know this is a CarPC forum but still, lol. The last forum I posted the cage in had a pretty polarised reaction to it. Some appreciating or at least understanding its inclusion as a visual element of the install and some who seemed to actually take offence to it and felt an overwhelming need to tell me off about it, lol. Anywho, there it is.

Again i know that this isnt related to a carpc, but this is a worklog for my install and im logging all the work thats going into my install, CarPC related or not. Spent most of today fabricating new mounts for the rear of the cage. It's taking longer than i hoped, there's some really complicated angles to deal with now with the nature of the rear panels. I'm planning on getting it all in by saturday evening, that includes the new front mounts, here's hoping.

    More to come as usual,

    Jon

Funny, I noticed the roll cage, and thought it was pretty cool, but what really got my attention was the seats, so that's what I commented on.

Somehow I wonder what people are thinking when they make negative comments about a roll cage. Now that you have a good roll cage and multi-point harnesses, about all you can add for maximum safety are helmets and Nomex suits.

I think I lump the people opposed to roll cages into the same category as people who oppose individuals owning weapons. It's all about protecting ourselves and those with us. The car manufacturers can't protect us in a rollover any more than the police can protect us when the bad guys break in. Roll cages and weapons: "Better to have 'em and not need 'em than to need 'em and not have 'em." Or, more simply put, "Better safe than sorry."

Hmmmm -- was that a rant?

Why do you think I said it looks too race car. You got all that metal around you!!!!!! You could always build up the interior and make panels to hide them, but I guess its the look your going for. I wish I could super charge my truck, but now that I am adding a second alternator, that dream is gone. Although my truck does go fast enough. If I take off the limiter I can hit 120 easily.

Since your a car expert, if I change out the air intake for a cold air intake, change the headers, add dual exhaust, reprogram my ECU.... How much of a boost you think it will give me. I am think it will get me to about 140 - 145 mph. After that I would have to do heavy engine mods, something I don't see warrant for since its a multimedia vehicle, not a Veyron, lol

Also, dont worry about it. Alot of us post about other aspects of our cars all the time. In alot of other forums you get flammed to death, but here that doesnt happen unless you have no car pc at all. You should see what happens to people that ask advice on headunits and audio setups and no intention of putting in a Car PC. They get flammed to death, I know because i've done it, lol.
