how'd yours die??
EEEPC's are so fun to hack up. That's why I loved mine before it dies. Now I'm just repurposing out its parts with my new project.

My just would not power up anymore. There are tons of forum posts out there about this issue. I got it to power up briefly but it just shut back down. i did the whole resetting CMOS in addition to draining the power...blah blah.. It's all good though I had it for a few years and it worked great during that time. I do miss the portability.

Just a message of support mate! Looks like you're doing well and this thread is going to make my mate wanna do his car, as he was so jealous that I can get a 10.2" in my crappy Clio! I bet you felt really guilty hacking your car apart as I know I did, and i was literally hacking apart!. I'll keep an eye on this one and i'll be up in the afternoon, hopefully posting on my progress as i've just finished night shifts and i'm shattered!
Regards,
John (Bolton, UK)

Oh man, I hadn't heard of that problem. Sorry to hear about your Eee. Is there any explanation for what caused it?
I started cutting into the radio cage and it looks like the mobo will fit quite nice:

Progress:
Today I did a little more cutting... First, I cut a hole in the aluminum heat spreader to allow the LVDS cable to come through it since the LCD will be in a different position now and I'm going to need all the slack I can get.
Next I cut the LCD bezel to fit the double din opening:
It came out pretty well I think. I was even able to retain the ASUS logo, as well as the webcam hole where my IR repeater eye will go, and the speaker grilles will both be functional with the left one hiding the microphone for the parrot ck3100 bluetooth handsfree kit, and the right one hiding a relocated stock mic from the Eee for voice commands if I ever decide to use them.
Also, my Parrot ck3100 bluetooth handsfree kit came i the mail today!Weee! I can't wait to get everything installed.

Thanks!
No, I'm trying to avoid that because it is a LOT of work... although it has been done successfully: http://forum.eeeuser.com/viewtopic.p...629993#p629993
From what I can tell so far, there should be just enough length for it to reach the front of the computer. Don't forget that many people have made their touchscreen modded Eee's into Tablets which involves a similar operation.
