cmotors, thanks for the info about the sunroof fuse. It seems it is the best choice. It took me 30 min to find the damn fuse panel inside the car :) too lazy to RTFM :)
I have not powered on the PC in the car yet, however, the backup camera rules!!! Paid $40 for it, it is not a 99 megapixes wonder, but it does the job nicely. And it has infrared as well !
The non intrusive install kinda went down the drain, I still took out the front covers. I will still keep the HU, just install it in front of the power button and covering the passanger air bag light, just above the AC knobs.
I already installed windows 7, i find it way more stable then XP, and the support for the sleep/hibernate features seems to be much improved. The GPS will go in the back, right at the far edge of the rear window.
There is an awesome spot for the PC right besides the spare tire, at least in the two door, not sure about the four door. For now, it will go under the driver seat till I get my hands on all the needed cables.

I am using a
Dell Inspiron 9200
running Windows 7 and Centrafuse.
With Xenarc 7" Screen that fit nicely in the stock Stereo double din spot.
Used the GMS - Lan - 04 stereo adapter to do utilize the Power on when key is turned on, along with the RCA jacks to allow the useage of the stock speakers / amplifier.
So far it is running well plus I can take the computer in and out when I want. I have a power converter plugged into the 12V accessorie to run the power to the computer.
I am using the Garmin Mobile PC and the Ultimate Garmin PC plugin.

but dont you have to press the power button every time you want to turn the laptop on?
Pressing the power button. Yes, but I have read that some people have wired a remote switch to do this to the power button. Some have even suggested using a docking station for the laptop, then wire everthing to the docking station, so you just drop the laptop in and go just as you would at work. I have not done this.
You may be able to find some usb / remote (Media Center Remote) that may wake the pc up from sleep or hibernation. Not sure.
I will in the near future purchase a permanent solution as they have more USB ports, and different power on / off solutions that I don't currently have on the laptop. But for now it works pretty nicely.
Well, I already found the dedicated PC to be a definite step up from the laptop. I tried out a Cetrino mobile, 1.7 (or 1.6, whatever) with 512 Mb ram and 80GB hdd. I was not impressed. The dual core Atom D510 is by far more responsive, not to mention, the power usage is actually lower than the laptop. My system now runs under or aorund the 50 watts with the monitor right now.
One of the things that made me get the PC was the 7 USB ports compared to the 2USB ports on the laptop :)

I have an aftermarket deck and the red wire is connected to an ignition wire (brown wire) in the fuse box. I dont have that expensive harness either so I lost the retained accessory power that was with the factory radio. If i connect the red wire to the window or sunroof fuse like you did will that retain the retained accessory power function for my radio as well??
