Why 4GB of ram? Do you really think you'll even use half of that?
Again, mostly just headroom. I would hope to not come close to using that much ram. I don't see any real downside to going with 4 gigs (as I am not planning on sleeping/hibernating). My goal is to design and tweak the system such that the cold boot time is fast enough to render sleep/hibernate unnecessary. If this isn't achievable, I can always pull a stick and run two gigs (or buy a single gig stick) and run that way. I guess since the cost isn't that much, I'll buy in bulk at a cheaper cost (in the off chance that I need it - or so this car pc stays functional well into the future).

Just a question. If you have 4Gb of RAM, why do you go for X64 instead of X32? If you would have 6Gb of RAM I would agree that it is better with X64 but with only 4Gb you will be able to use 3.5Gb with X32 and the total use of memory is less with X32 system compared to X64.
