good to see another 300 getting a carputer, best of luck and feel free to ask my any question regarding our car, i may not know the answer but I'll probably know where to look![]()
I recently purchased a 2009 Chrysler 300. Of course the first thing I wanted to do was to install a carputer. I've raised enough funds to get started and am ready to purchase parts, but I thought I'd post a list here in case someone sees something wrong with the route I plan to take. Keep in mind this is my first carPC project.
- Intel BOXD945GCLF2D Intel Atom processor 330 Intel 945GC Mini ITX Motherboard/CPU Combo (specs here)
- 2 gigs of RAM
- 250 gig laptop drive
- M2-ATX
- VoomPC-2 Enclosure
- Lilliput 629GL-70NP
I plan to hook up audio through an amp.
Your feedback is appreciated. I'm anxious to order parts and kick this build off.

My mobo/processor, RAM, hard drive, & M2-ATX all came in last night. I installed ram and the drive, hooked up to my desktop's power supply and booted up without a hitch. I also used my desktops dvd-rom to install LinuxIce. I went with LinuxIce b/c I run an ubuntu server at home and have plans to have the carpc and the server sync whenever the car connects to the wifi.
LinuxICE didn't blow me away, but I didn't play with it all that much. I was also connected to a 22" widescreen monitor and using a mouse. Perhaps it will 'feel' differently when I get my Lilly.
While I wait for my case, screen, and other misc parts, I guess I'll start making sure all of my id3 tags are organized...
Parts have been slowly trickling in. I've been doing a little assembly over the last few days, so I'll upload images:

If you notice from the second to the last image above, the distance from my PS to the connector on the motherboard isn't very far. The cables that came with the M2-ATX are too long. I plan on cutting the wires and shortening it to minimize the mess inside the small case. While I'm at it, I'll probably sleeve them in a single black heatshrink. This will hopefully improve airflow in the case too.
