Thread: 2008 Sequoia Platinum

This is really coming along nicely. I have an '08 Sequoia as well and have been following your progress - in fact, a Google search last fall directed me to your worklog and inspired my install. I have a long way to go still but following your detailed steps is giving me much inspiration to push forward.

Lesson learned at your expense ;-) : Don't buy cameras with markers unless for the rear.

Cool job! Nice to see someone else is doing the side view cams also. I am going to have only three for my car. Rear view which I am mounting in the roof (minimize halos from car lights), and my side views..location to be determined.

I am also using a tablet which will replace my original design for my carpc. The tablets are cool because you have it all.. wifi, gps, bluetooth with unlimited apps which include streaming local radio and more. No need for all the extra hardware unless you have an SUV like yourself...then sky's the limit and beyond!

Check out my old project in the signature where I was modifying my Altima center console...too bad it got totaled but that's ok because I got newer model and with new ideas

Whoa, what a monster of a thread, more than one?! I'm still on page 9 on your first Altima, very cool stuff. Liked the switches you got, I'm looking for a switch panel to control all the stuff I'm adding, at least a 4 button panel, 2 inches wide, 4 to 7 inches long.

I'm going to call this Sequoia the tablet car...4 tablets! 1 TabletPC running Windows 7; 1 Apple iPad running iOS, and two Android tablets in the headrests! For the 3rd row I'll probably run content from the TabletPC, dumb screens inside the headrests, because they get folded too often!

oh..Ha! yeah my old thread is crazy. The momentary switches are cool. Check out frozencpu.com. They have many of the parts I used for my mod. Four tablets! that's awesome. I was thinking about something like that for my back seats as well but that's later down the road. Can't wait to see how your project comes out.

That's why you put the screens in your C-Pillar. I fold mine down because of my dogs. So I decided to put them in the C-Pillar, that way the seat and hardware are ok. Plus on the Durango, they made the headrests very small. So not even 6 INCH screens will fit.

In this thread you'll see the cameras, qv9750 and the links to buy them. Great cameras. I'm not liking the rear camera much, because as a rearview mirror, it's just too wide angled: the cars appears way too far back. For parking or checking out stuff; it's amazing, it's like you're truly looking from the rear glass! I think I would need another camera if I wanted to use it in traffic; but not sure what to use yet.
