    SyberShots Build

    I just registered and This is my first post, I have been reading the forums for quite some time now on and off. I had no money to buy parts to show off, and no experience to give any advice. A pc in a vehicle held my attention, now I'm finally getting my feet wet.
    I Just got finished building the brain for my computer, I have not decided which vehicle to put it in yet though. I have a family vehicle which is a 1999 white Dodge Durango, I also have a 1997 red Mitsubishi 3000GT, and I have a 1977 JR Customs 21 foot Speed boat that I am fully restoring. I'm leaning towards putting the computer in the 3000GT for I use it for my business and pleasure traveling, but not 100% sure.

    Hardware
    ASUS AT3N7A-I Intel Atom 330 (1M Cache, 1.6GHz, Dual-Core) NVIDIA ION Mini ITX Motherboard/CPU Combo

    PQI POWER Series 2GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)

    Intel X25-V SSDSA2MP040G2R5 2.5" 40GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive

    Panasonic Slot Load CW-8124 DVD-ROM/CD-RW Combo Drive

    M2-ATX 160W Intelligent DC-DC PSU

    Morex 5677 Mini-ITX Case with Quick Release Power Cable Kit

    touch screen/screens none yet

    Software
    Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, installed

    NISU Automotive RideRunner, not installed yet

    Zabawares Ultra Hal personal assistant, not installed yet

    Gps maybe Alk Technologies CoPilot for I have the software which is an old laptop mobile version, but usb puck is broken, I might get something more up to date. I open for some suggestions for the CoPilot is at least 8 years old, and a new puck from ALK is not cheap.

    To my surprise windows 7 installed quite fast, I was not timing it though, sorry. the install was also very easy. with this set up windows boots in less than 10 seconds. I had to shut down and re-boot a few times to ensure myself, for my main pc a Gateway FX laptop has vista Home Premium 64-bit and it takes over a minute.

    Windows Scores
    processor 3.3
    memory 4.4
    graphics 3.9
    Gaming Graphics 4.9
    Primary 5.9
    Final Score 3.3

    I have pics of the build to share with you all here but for some reason I tried to upload one, it took a few minutes so I walked away and it said it was done. but it did not show up in my post or inside hosted area. I will try again later

    Edit: was able to get the pictures to upload tonight

    This is the case with the pre-installed quick connect and screen power output.

    Back panel and motherboard installed, The mobo was a tight fit.

    I had to apply pressure to expand the case in order to insert the mobo

    Memory installed

    power supply installed, fit perfectly

    I used a 20 pin to 24 pin connector and connected the ssd

    lots of wire here

    the ssd is nice, I would recommend one to anyone. Do you have a build log? I would like to see it if you do. If you don't mind a question what memory are you using?

    EDIT: Found your work log in your sig, all questions answered Nice Ride

    If this is true, you should really record a video and post it here. There's nobody that cold boots in 10seconds currently who has submitted a video for the challenge.

    I agree, even with the most powerful over kill systems, boot is over 10 seconds. i expect though in the future, maybe Win 7 users will start to get boot up under 10 seconds, but they have to have very bare systems. The more devices you add to the setup, the longer it takes to boot up. I know with my Dual Core AMD setup, with nothing plugged in, it was about 11 seconds. Once I plugged in my devices that number jumped to 30 seconds cold boot. That was the main reason I preferred hibernation.

    tripzero yes it is true, I am a 34 year old with a wife and 4 kids. I have no need to impress anyone. I'm also not a teen trying to get attention or become popular. I will not be making a video. A video can be edited very easy these days. I would not have believed one if I saw one, before I built this. I suggest you to see with your own eyes how fast a Intel solid state drives and windows 7 combo really is. it is ones only real way to know the truth.

    if you get this with a Dual Core AMD why is it that you think this is not possible with a Dual Core Intel? I guess the future is here, and my windows 7 does not have to be stripped down. I know normally once I get my programs, and device drivers installed, the boot time should raise. But not 100% sure of that seeing that it is a SSD it does not need to spin and seek a platter to find the info needed to boot. That is going to be interesting to find out.
    I saw your work log a few weeks ago, while searching Durango and 3000gt builds. That is one big project, and It is coming out great. now that I'm registered I can finally compliment you. I would love to have all those screens, but my kids would destroy them.

    This morning on my main machine(gateway fx laptop w/vista 64) I installed Ride Runner I did not like the UI, so I installed the DigitalFX 4.0 skin. Second thing I went to do was embbed my personal assistant (Ultra Hal) inside of Ride Runner. I created the folder UltraHal inside programFiles(x86)/RideRunner/Launch and inside I placed a ultrahal.ini that I mocked up using the existing notepad and calc for guidence. It worked but not really, it is unusable. The embedded area screen turns pink after a second or two. Then it goes White with two pop up menu buttons on the top right hand side. when opened The first has Ultra Hal programs menu and the second has resolution sizes. if I click on the sizes the program shows up for a split second then disappears again leaving a white embedded area screen behind. After a lil while the program Finally shuts down, but I have to hit close app button to return to external app menu.

    This is my ultrahal.ini File
    [GENERAL]
    PATH = C:\Program Files (x86)\Zabaware\Ultra Hal Assistant 6\HalAsst.exe
    TryEmbeddedTimeOut = 5
    WindowSearchString=Ultra Hal Assistant

    This is very disappointing The main whole reason for this car computer was to have my personal assistant, and all my media at my disposal in my car. I know it can still be there, but will be a hassle to use outside of my front end.

    Did I miss something and/or Does anyone have any Idea how to fix this issue? Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated sincerely SyberShot

    been looking into a front ends more and I decided I'm going to be using my AI Ultra Hal. it is for me the best way to go. everything voice controlled, all my contacts phone numbers can be dialed via voice, even my e-mails can be dictated, read, and sent. all my different types of media can be played via voice. I would never be alone in my vehicle due to the AI part of the program, which is amazingly great at conversations.
    with plug-ins once I learn vb, I can have my car start, shut-down, windows up or down, and open my doors via voice.
    A forum member built a plug-in which can tell you your systems cpu, ram, hardrive info, and have your system shut down, via voice control through this AI program.

    There will be times where I might want to use the touch screen, so I will just build a flash.exe for a second optional front end to fit my needs, with the help of Zink3.0 to access and control system info. I figure if I build it, I know how to fix it, I also won't have to worry about bloated programs I don't need or want taking up my valuable SSD space.

    still have to decide which vehicle to put this in. Wish I had the money, I would put one in all three.

    I didnt say that lol.... I have just always prefered AMD. The issue is that AMD doesnt seem to make alot of Mini-iTX stuff, and when you finally find something it isnt as feature rich as far as connections. I have dropped AMD and come over to INTEL with all systems that are in the car. I went with a Zotac for the main system only because it uses nVidia Graphics chips. Alot of the Mini-iTX use INTEL graphics which are pure $h!+.

    Thanx for the compliments. I have 2 big American Bull Labs and I am worried for the third row screens since they stick out a little. The 2 in the headrests are safe because if my dogs go up there, the open window distracts them and they stick their heads out.

    PS: That Ultra Hal sounds cool...... Wish I could do that!

    your welcome on the compliment, do you have a way to block your dogs from going into the back? like my Durango has a drop down console that host 2 cup holders but folds upwards to allow another seat for another passenger, it might help keep the dogs in the middle row if they don't jump around.

    you can, the website is below. There is a free trail if you want to try it out.
    They have a fairly good size friendly, helpful community on there forums aswell. some build 3d characters, some build custom GUI skins, and some build plug-ins. a few people have there house all controlled by voice, and a few have done there car to be like K.I.T.T. but left and left no help on how to do it. I plan on doing it, and leaving help so others can do the same painlessly.

    I almost got a Zotak mobo, they have Nvidia graphics chips, and very good rep. I went with Asus though, for it had more audio outputs, front, center, and back, was overclockable, and also had the Nvidia graphics chips. I'm not sure if I will overclock though, maybe in the future for it will be like a free upgrade
