So yeah... this is my first build.. and I'm going to do it right.
I started another worklog thread months ago with a 2008 Mercury Milan.. but I had purchased that car for my wife... and I've gotten rid of the car, and am currently in the process of getting rid of the wife lol!
So I traded in the Milan and purchased the car that I wanted in the first place... the one I've wanted since I was a little kid.. the Black 2010 Ford Mustang GT! And god I love this car!! I think it has a ton of potential, and I'm excited to get started. I've pretty much got the parts list nailed down, so without further ado...
Zotac ZBOX HD-ND02-U - bare-bones mini-itx PC
4GB (2GB x 2) Crucial DDR3 1066 204 pin SODIMMs
Kingston SSDNow V Series 64GB SSD (SataII) Speedy Main drive for OS and important
software
1TB Western Digital e-Sata drive for
music (mostly flac lol) and other media storage (probably GPS maps as well)
Lilliput GL629-70NP/C/T Transflective Optically Bonded Daylight Readable from MO-CO-SO w/ black double-din frame included
Metra Electronics 99-5823CH Dash kit to hold the double-din framed liliput..
GP83 160W Intelligent DC-DC PSU from what I can tell the ZBOX draws about 20-25 Watts on average.. so this should be plenty
Nano Hi-Speed USB 2.0 Bluetooth Network adapter
BoomzBox HD Radio USB Controlled AM/FM Tuner
Adesso SlimTouch Wireless 2.4 GHz RF Mini Touchpad Keyboard
BU-353 Weather-proof GPS Receiver
ZyXEL ANT1106 6dBi 802.11 b/g/n omnidirectional antenna w/RP-SMA connector (which I'm pretty sure is the same connection coming off the back of the Zotac board above.. stop me if I'm wrong plz)
Round on-off-on rocker (valet/always on) switch
Pac Audio SWI-X to transmit steering wheel button presses to the next item...
MP3Car Universal Infrared Receiver/Transmitter (USB)
Mustang GT500 Steering Wheel for extra buttons to press.. mwahahaha
Ambient Light kit for the sexy, and because... why not!?
And that's the list for now. I'm sure I'll be adding a couple more things as I go.
I've set myself a budget of $8000 for the entire project, which includes suspension mods, some bolt on engine mods, a complete replacement "headers-back" exhaust system, and a few smaller exterior mods (blackouts mostly) for a bit of styling =0)
So far I've priced everything on my list (including all my performance and exterior mods), including tax and shipping costs and it comes out to $8010.27
Speaking of performance and exterior mods.... here's the list for those ideas:
Performance:
* BBK Ceramic Long Tube Headers
* BBK Shorty (Catted) X-Pipe
* Borla Cat-back Exhaust
* BBK 62mm Twin Throttle Body
* Steeda Underdrive Pulley
* Steeda "Stage 2" Suspension Pak
* Diablo Trinity T1000
* Steeda Cold Air Intake
Interior/Exterior Aesthetics:
* Removing the GT emblems from both sides, and the rear faux gas cap and installing a blackout across the back of the trunk
* Halo Projectors (if I can find a set that will actually work with the 2010 model *grumble, grumble..*) to replace the headlights and fog
lights
* Blackout panels for the front and rear lights
* Blackout Panels for the side lights (front and rear quarter panel turn signal indicators/reflectors)
* Hoping to swap out the GT regular (4 gauge) cluster with the GT Premium (6 gauge) cluster that has the "My Colors" feature built in! (I've seen this done with older models and I'm hoping it can be done with the 2010 models)
So yeah, lots to do.. and of course I'm super excited about it. This is pretty much my finalized list of mods for this project, and unless you guys say something against one of the items on the list, I pretty much have my mind made up lol...
I'll have pictures coming soon.. probably by Sunday but I dunno.. I have a car covered in water spots that wouldn't come out with a regular hand car wash.. friggen Hawaii has the perfect conditions of dry days with a hot blazing sun, then days when it rains like crazy and days when it just mists and drizzles... then the hot blazing sun again that bakes the water into your clear-coat... sigh.. So I'm pretty embarrassed to take pictures of it right now.. going to be trying the whole water/vinegar mixture to get it shining again..
Assuming I still have a finalized list at that time, I'll be starting the ordering (and then the waiting lol) process around the second week of July... so let me know what you think and all that good stuff... and god I'm long winded lol.. no wait, thorough.. ya that's it.. thorough
But anyways. I'll be posting more in the next day or two to add more detail and probably interior pics that detail where this item or that thing will be placed and where I'm planning on running these wires as opposed to those wires lol.. all the nitty gritty finest detail planning stuff..
Thanks for reading, and for the feedback I'm hoping to get from you all =0)
David
