    Ready For Paint!

Thank you, Pierre, for the words of encouragement!

Yes, it's really true, I'm actually ready to paint this thing. Please don't ask me how many hours I spend blocking it out with filler and primer.......

I also had to make up 4 trim panels plus I had to detail the inside of the sub box since you will be able to see inside. I also had to layout and cut some mesh grilles for the floor line to hide the sub box feet. All of this took some time. I also need to fix the plastic on the paint booth walls first

I'm doing a 2 stage paint process and will likely sand after the colour has been laid down. I would like to wait a while couple weeks to a month after the clear coat in done to buff it but I won't wait that long to install the console and I won't pull it back out in a month to do it, so I guess it will all happen with in a few days. I hope the paint is OK, I've had it for a year. This will likely take me into next weekend to finish.

Next update should be more interesting...

    It's Painted

Finally painted. I'm not 100% happy with the results but it's decent. There are some sanding scratches from the primer coming through in a couple of spots and I touched one spot of the sub box side panel with the hanger while painting but not too bad. Only one run in the clear I think but i can fix it. I did pick up some trash in the clear so I will have some work buffing but it all should be good.

Now that I got my shiny on, time to start working on gutting the interior of the truck and adding 100ft of sound dampener and doing the final install of wires.

    Thanks for looking!

    Thanks guys.

I need to wait a few more days before colour sanding & buffing since I don't have the equipment to force dry the paint but I did buy the buffing compound & pads today. I will wet sand to 1500, (maybe 2000) then step up through the pads from wool, 2, then 3. I will then polish it in a month or so with Zaino's polish the same stuff I use on the outside of the truck.

I wasn't too ambitious on Sunday so rather than start on the interior of the truck, I decided I would finished up the sub box (other than paint detailing).

I test fit the grille to cover the bottom legs:

I cleaned up the windows, installed the inside trim rings, plus installed the silver Plexiglas reflective floor:

And last but not least, the LED's:

Thanks SNO, I will keep it going, I want it done this month if at all possible. I installed the PC 3 years ago this week, it's time!

Final amp selection has been made to replace the 2 Infinity's. I will use a JL Audio XD600.6 (6 channel amp) to power the JL C5-650 components & the C5-650x coaxials The coaxials will be used just as woofers. The Kicker 1250.1 will of course be used to drive the RD Sonance 12" DVC sub which will remain wired at 2 ohms.

So now I need to find a home for them. I'm going to investigate installing them under the back seat now that I have reduced the foot print of the multi ch amp going from the Infinity to the JL.
