Very creative. I like the idea.

Thanks Kolton, I can't say I was the first to come up with it, but at least I "did it my way" in how I installed them.
That looks like a Lincoln in your avitar, you must know what puddle lights if you have a Lincoln. The factory worries about their Lincoln owners not stepping in puddles and installs some under the door mirrors, don't they? I thought it was just us low-life truck owners that they figure are wearing boots all the time that don't matter :D
Your "puddle lights" just gave me an idea too! ;-)
Hi, just had a read of your worklog from start to finish, love the truck, envious of the room you have to play with. Love the back seat mods and installation and looking forward to seeing that console finished when you get the time. I "still" haven’t finished my centre dash panel, one day I guess.
I see you’re trying to keep everything neat and reliable amid the constant additions and mods as the build progresses, I find/found this time consuming and sometimes frustrating but worth it in the end.
Thanks for all the positive comments, it does help to motivate.
I am going to make the time to take the console out of the truck, cut down, prep'd and painted as soon as things warm up consistently. We are above freezing all this week but it's hit and miss this time of year. I think I can make it happen in March or April at the lastest. In the mean time, I will have to update W8 DE to Beta in Feb when it is released. I want to replace the front audio stage and add the B-Quiet. The engine warranty will be up in April so I may look at some engine mods, we'll see.
Also I have switched to Ride Runner using the Elite skin from CF. I absolutely love it, I finally have the playlist structure that I have been wanting since day 1, all videos play properly without a major nose bleed having to adding ffdshow, MKV's working ocassionally etc. The web browser is easy to use. The one BIG loss for me was that GMPC will not embed properly on my wide screen with Elite but due to everything else working so well, I am will to use it just the way it is. I have OBD, and the new weather plugin to get working next. I also need to send out some donations this week now that I am comfortable that I will be staying with RR. If CF ever produces a product in the future that fits my needs, I would have no objection to trying it again.
Been too long for an update, but life keeps getting in the way. I decided to try to improve my WiFi reception in the hopes of ditching the data stick that costs $30 month. I ordered an Alpha Network long range WiFi range extender ( http://www.alfa.com.tw/in/front/bin/home.phtml )
Here is how I did it:
The broken off stub of the factory AM/FM antenna:
I removed the valance to reveal the radio antenna mounting stub:
I removed the 3 screws for the stub and unplugged it, then cutting the plug off and taping the wire for the new antenna to the end of it to pull through to the inside of the cab:
Here is the original orange antenna wire inside:
Here is the new wire pulled through in it's place:
I then screwed the antenna mast on to the stub and replaced the valance panel.
The mast has a 90 degree elbow that allows it to bend without alot of force. I really didn't think it would stand up to the wind so I made a plastic collar that slipped over the joint to reinforce it. I then sealed the top of the collar with black silicone.
The last thing to do was to connect the range extender on the inside and run the USB cable to the PC:
Thats it for the install. Next will be testing it to see if it is really as good as the reviews I read about it. I will post when I have those answers!
Thanks for reading!
Just a quick overdue update. The Alpha Network range adapter is amazing. I don't know what other word to use. Just driving by a location that has WiFi that I have logged into before will cause the browser to pop up and log in. This is while driving by at 70mph on a 4 lane divided highway. Crazy range on this thing.
The other addition this summer was I finally added a camera to the rear. It works good, it wasn't expensive (40 or 50 bucks) but does help when backing up to trailers. I can't say that I am comfortable backing the truck up using it though, I still use my mirrors.
Is it this one? http://www.alfa.com.tw/in/front/bin/...ategory=106129
