    Console is almost done....

Here's a few more pictures of the almost finished console. It amazed at how smooth it is now. All have done now is filled in minor inperfections and pinholes with the glazing putty, and then several coats of high build primer and lightly sanding in between coats. Won't be long now before I finish this bad boy. I had to text message the pictures to my work email and only one arrived so far, but i'll post the others once they are my inbox. I know, I know I shouldn't be on here at work......

The small area between the rackmount gear and screen is mostly a tray for my phone and wallet and what not while i'm driving, but I think i found the perfect size keyboard to fit in that space. Heres a picture of it too. I just need to order it, but shouldnt take too long to get it. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16823111053

I know you are set on grey and black maybe.... but this keyboard is way better. I have one and love them. I just hate that they are white. i do love the light up buttons.

It could come apart and you could paint the bezel black...

It's funny you posted that becuase I did some searching last night after I measured my console and need a keyboard a little bit smaller than the one I posted. My girlfriend and I did some searching and found the one you posted. There's also a black one that's not backlit, but it is the same size, which will fit in perfectly with enough room on the right for a matching touchpad.

Here's a the matching mouse that will fit into that area with either keyboard above. I figured it'd be easy to use for browsing and what not since touching the monitor is sometimes hard if it's a link or something small like that. OR if my touchscreen does stop working for whatever reason.

Found this one too. Its black, has a build in mouse, and is backlit! But... it's just a little too small to look good and in order to use the driver or passenger would have to pick it up and use like a smart phone.

And finally, backlit keyboard from this manufacture have a mouse control and right/left clicks build on the keyboard and they are near perfect size for the spot i need. Too bad they run $350-450, probably becuase they are made for industrial, medical, and military applications.... I'm not spending that much on a keyboard!

Yeah I like the fact that it's backlit, but i'm afraid with it being white it'll get dirty easier.

I shy away from the keyboard becuase it's too much white, and it never hit me to paint it. Good idea!

Is there an on/off for the backlight, or is it controlled strictly by the amount of light it senses?
