    04 S2000 getting started

Just testing the speaker set up, working so far.

    Arriving soon
Lilliput 629GL-70NP/C/T-DVI 7" VGA Touchscreen with DVI input
    M4-ATX, 250w output with enclosure

Still trying to decide between a Mini-ITX motherboard or This MSI Micro-ATX Motherboard with a built in amplifier
    http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=pr...4&prod_no=1654

This is an interesting Mini-ITX computer case i found
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-067-_-Product

edit:This should be in worklogs. sorry about that.

Update: heres what i got in mind for the actual computer hardware.
    http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/Pu...Number=9735389

    Update:
Just ordered 2x Streetwires (a brand recommended by s2ki forums) 8 gauge wiring kits, and 1x Boss(seemly generic brand) 4 gauge amp wiring kit. seemed more economical to just get the kits. excited to see how the quality compare. also ordered an extremely cheap and low power amplifier http://www.caraudiodeals.com/product...s_id=2100{8}19 hopefully this will work will the stock speakers without modification!

    Update:
    Amp is hooked up

    Update:

    all wiring is done.

I think once the Android tablet release. it will be most beneficial for carPCs. I prefer googles car home app to any front end software. it disable music volume when there is a GPS command and has voice dialing. hopefully the tablet will also enable support for USB devices

having the computer control lock/unlock and ignition + enabling remote unlock and ignition via Bluetooth using an android phone is definitely something id be interested to look into.

They were less expensive than the mobile intel processors. Wasnt aware of the Motherboard+Intel Atom CPU combos at first, but now that i think about it, it would only have been about 50$ less and the i3 should offer much more performance.

Do you plan to integrate the audio controls next to the steering wheel? Also, are you going to cut your dash for the monitor?

I've got an '03 s2k myself that I'm waiting to start on...

I have not looked into integrating the audio controls next to the steering wheel at all yet. This sounds like it would be tough. Im thinking the sticker mount that comes with the Lilliput will do for now. In the future im thinking maybe create a threaded hole on the dashboard that would allow wires to pass through and attach a swivel mount. Right now im just worried about getting the system working. cleaning up the wires can be done another day.

You should look at some of the pictures of the the double DIN projects that some people did on s2ki. We won't have the same problem of hitting the vents as some people since all we will be doing is mounting a screen compared to a whole radio (I think).

Also, for dash control, I was reading about how some people hacked up a joystick and connected it to their steering wheel radio controls, then connecting it to the car pc. Another way that I was considering was the Fusion Brain that they sell.

Anyways, I'm glad you're taking the plunge. So far I'm only in the planning stages. I'm actually using my daily driver as my 'experiment' car. I've learned a lot on how to wire up a car because of this project. Once I have everything set, I'll move onto my s2000.

Here's a picture of my current set-up, also a pic of my s2000:

Most of it is hack and slash for now. But when I move onto my s2000, I'll be able to do it much nicer.

I would actually prefer to have the screen mounted with a swivel ball mount, right in the middle of the dash. It would behave kinda like a mirror.

Im thinking maybe using some usb peripheral for volume controls. i have my eye on the griffin powermate. http://store.mp3car.com/Griffin_Powe..._p/com-052.htm I will have to look into if this is compatible with LinuxICE later. What is this Fusion Brain thing? is this to interface miscellaneous buttons with USB?

Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?
