1967 Camaro

I have a 1967 Camaro that is still in the body shop (see link). I currently have 90% of everything I need to get this HUGE project completed, being that I live in Hawaii this is damn expensive (shipping and all). So here it is...

1967 Camaro RS
Engine: 468 Big Block Chevy (should be close to 700HP)
Transmission: Tremec TKO 600 5 speed .82 overdrive
Suspension: QA1 double adjustable front coil overs, QA1 double adjustable rear shocks.
Rear end: GM 12 bolt with 4.10:1 gears
Brakes: 4 wheel power disc
Sound / Heat: Lizard skin acoustic and ceramic spray liner
Paint: will be 2002 Prowler Orange Pearl.. Way to many blue, black, red, yellow and hugger orange first gens out there. No offense if you have one of them colors...

Carputer / Stereo
Mac Mini (2010, 4Gb Ram, 500Gb hdd)
10.2" touch screen (not sure which yet)
Sub - JL 12W7
Amps - Phoenix Gold 1000W class D, Phoenix Gold 800W 4 ch
Cap - Phoenix gold 15 farad (overkill but gotten at a cheap price)
Separates - Diamond Audio S600 x 4
EQ - Phoenix Gold 2/3 octave 12 ch

As you can tell by the pictures of the car, I am a long way off. Like I said I have 90% of everything I need to get this done, just need my car back and create time to assemble. There are a few things I am worried about with the carputer thing.

1) need to figure out how to isolate the unit from vibration, being that I will have close to 700 HP.
2) Is there currently a viable solution for the DC - DC on the 2010 Mac Mini? read both yes and no on this forum... I would love to have the ability to have the Mac turn on and boot when I walk up to the car using the stardrive system (http://www.auto-hub.com/stardrive_pu..._ignition.html)

I've been installing my own stereo's and alarms forever, so I think I should have a pretty good handle on this. I'm also a double MCSE and CCNP, so technical ability is fairly high. Is anyone on here in Hawaii? I'm tired of looking at carputer porn, I want to see some of these awesome builds in person.

One last thing... Does anyone know of any sites / DVDs out there that can help me to create my custom center console? I saw the Video's from the installer institute, but $600 is crazy for DVD's. I have so much money into this car, that I simply can't justify that price for videos. I have worked with fiberglass in the past, but I'm way better at mechanics than I am at creating art (which I consider a good install to be). Actually I suck at art!

Anyway... Any help would greatly be appreciated on the above list of items. Any comments, concerns, etc...

hey mate, this is going to be a wicked project, can't wait to see it as it progresses.

pc in muscle car = epic

a thought on vibrations: i don't know anything about mac mini's but make sure you mount the pc so that the HDD is vertical. this gives long life as bumps and vibrations are less likely to cause the spindle to impact on the platter. otherwise consider going solid state drive maybe? i know they are expensive, but a typical HDD is the most vulnerable to vibrations and ssd's are basically indestructible hey.

I hear you on the SSD, thats my plan if budget allows it... I may just run the 500Gb HDD I have in the Mac Mini till it dies, rebuilding a Mac is no big deal to me. With so many other things I need to get done, the HDD is the least of my expense worries at this point. The car should be getting painted this Saturday 9/11 in the evening, I will be there to take pictures as it happens and will post as soon as possible. I can't wait... I already have wood from seeing it partially painted.

for the custom work, check youtube-- back when i thought i had enough space for fiberglass projects, i remember finding many step-by-step video tutorials on the process.

there was enough info that i am almost confident to take on a fg project once i get the space...
