Thread: 1997 Chevy Blazer

Ok. So, I've had the BlazerPC running for almost 2 months now with a new motor in it. Only downside is that the Centrafuse frontend doesn't always reconnect my OBDii tool after hibernation. Currently looking at integrating DashCommand into the FE and using that instead. Also, I have the mini touch 700 screen and contrary to the review it's sensitive in cold temps.
The MP3Car HDRadio that I ordered quit working. Considering removing it and using it on something else.
Also considering building a custom center console to house everything and downgrading the 400w amp to a 200w. The current amp is overpowered for the speakers.
If anyone has any ideas or tips feel free to let me know.

how do you like the mini touch monitor? I'm considering it.

Love it. Now that there's not as much of a temperature change, it's not picky. Since the temperatures are at or below freezing all day now, I'm able to touch it right away without having to wait or worry about the volume going crazy. Since it's replacing a double-din radio, even with the headrest mount it still isn't a perfect fit but it fills most of the area quite well. Definitely recommend it, especially with the fair price on it compared to others and kits.

did you open up the monitor or you are using it with the headrest mount?
I would like to use it with the Lilliput frame&H bracket, that's why I ask. I wonder how it would fit? before I planned on getting the Lilliput EBY701, but now I'm considering this monitor and I already have the frame/bracket.

I'm using it with the headrest mount. It doesn't look the best since I haven't finished the custom bezel to fill the gap around it in the dash. That's currently planned for the spring.

well, as usual, ran into a problem. mass airflow sensor went out today. egr valve is acting up too. going to check that tomorrow and probably end up replacing it.

mass airflow sensor: $120 with military discount
egr valve: $162
egr valve gasket: $2

luckily these are able to be replaced by anyone.
tip: make sure to follow instructions. just because we're men doesn't mean that we should skip instructions when it comes to keeping our CarPC vehicles running

blazer is running great now. next up for install, 4 new 200w speakers and brand new speaker wiring. maybe even use rhino lining inside the doors. sound matting for other areas to cut down on outside noise.

just make sure to not plug the holes in the bottom of the door to prevent water drainage..

been running the computer in the computer for a while now. radio module died a couple months after installing it. that's being removed this summer. the computer will now connect to a brand new kenwood with motorized screen that's capable of playing dvd/cd and has USB and Aux audio connections. the current monitor will be dedicated to GPS, web browsing, and emergency response.


side note:::have a new command vehicle for the fire department. chief wants a mobile command center installed. (i.e. pc system). needs at least a 15" monitor. just wondering if there's any monitors that size the aren't roof mount of if there's a way to adapt a desktop monitor to run off the vehicles 12v power system. space is limited so this will be a completely custom install. the PC will be using a standard keyboard on a fold down tray. the compartment is 24"w x 24"h x 18"deep. help will be greatly appreciated and pictures will definitely be posted with credits given for all advice/recommendations given.
