I'd like to put some kind of internal security camera system going in the car for theft, or sheer vandalism purposes, am I to understand this is what you plan to use the RVS-300 for? Wiring up something to the emergency button? Or is this just in case the worst happens and you wanna stick it to the bastid's insurance company that cut you off forcing an accident?
Something kinda like that. It will be more for actual driving recording. It currently will have 4 cameras. One for each side, then one on the inside. It is mainly for insurance, but it will be tied into the security alarm so that if it is tripped, it also starts recording. So I guess its a dual purpose system. I really want to add the FLIR cameras. I hope some day to win the lottery and I will buy 4 of them without thinking about it, lol. I want one for each side so when the system sees it is getting dark, it automatically switches to FLIR mode and allows me to see and record in FLIR mode. Only the front camera will record in reg mode because I cant switch the cameras main camera. The front FLIR though will be connected to the drivers flip up screen. So all I do is open the screen and it will sit directly infront and be my new way to see where I am going. Hope it all works out.

Today at about midnight, I am going to go ahead and buy the RearView Safety RV-300. I was supposed to buy the Q9550S processor, but I am putting it off because I would really like to record my driving for safety reasons. I figure I can get the processor in about a month. My Car PC still needs a lot of stuff were as the camera system is only missing the RV-300. The unit goes for $249.99, but I did a MAKE AN OFFER on Ebay for $220.00 w/ shipping and they accepted it. Cant wait to play with this DVR. One thing I wanted to do is start a Talk Show and Log of all my adventures in my car. The conversations I have sometimes are priceless and now the world will see them too. All while me driving like a crazy person. Stay tuned for that!

I love the things you are (or plan to be) integrating. Quite the project.

I have a video camera connected to my monitor, looking out the rear view. Problem is that it was not designed for the job because the image is not mirrored for proper perspective (IE; cars approaching and passing on the left appear to be doing so on the right).

At some point I will try to search for a camera that does this since the monitor doesn't seem to. It is the VM70 as you probably remember from my thread.

All my cameras are vehicle cameras so it does the mirroring on its own. They go for about $30.00.

As far as my new DVR, I have been testing it for a few days. I am still trying to find a program that will combine all the clips to one big movie. So far the programs crash because the .mp4 files have the GPS data in them. So I think the program doesnt know why that is there so it fails.

As far as the VM70, have you checked in the options to see if it does mirror? I am not sure because I never played with the feature since I have a dedicated screen.

Yes, I have been through all the options and just can't find anything like that. No problem, I'm willing to spend $30 for a camera. Where did you pick them up?

That particular item is non-mirror view, but looks like a nice little unit.

On a side note, my HTC Touch Pro has been giving me a lot of issues. Its to the point that when I touch the screen, the back light flickers violently. It doesn't sound loud either. I am also tired of using WinMo 6. Today my Boss's phone died and she went to the Sprint store. She called me and asked if she should get the Touch Pro 2 (WinMo 6) or the EVO (Android). I told her to get the EVO. She didn't know how to set her email and asked me to do it. Well after 10 seconds I feel in love with Android. I told her I was sooooooooooooooo jealous. It has a 1 GHZ processor, 8MP camera, big screen, HDMI out, 4G and the list goes on. So she said, well tomorrow I will get you one for your Christmas present! So I am happy! Then I thought about my Car PC, if I get the EVO, then I wont have to buy a separate aircard and pay a separate monthly fee. The EVO has the ability to be used as a HotSpot, so I can use the Car PC internet through that. Now only thing is that in my area we only have 3G, so I cant use phone and internet at the same time. The way I see it though, my Car PC will not be done till sometime next year, so by then 4G will be in place. 4G allows you to talk on the phone and surf the web.

Exactly!!! Notice my signature (or maybe you already did). No tether fees, just uses the data plan.

I have the Samsung Galaxy S (Canada eh). Works a treat. Can't wait until the upgrade from Android 2.1 to 2.2 and they promised it was due this month.

    John

PS: The nasty weather has settled in, so not too much car work right now. FLA must still be pretty nice. Gotta drag my wife and grandson to Disney one of these days.

Yea, I saw that in your sig..... Im a huge HTC fan, its all ive owned for the past 6 years. Since i'm not even 30% knowledgable on Android, I dont know the difference between 2.1 and 2.2.

FLA is over rated, maybe its because I live here I dont care for it. I do anything to live in Canada.

Well Sprint does have tether fees, but Android is easy to hack to get around them, lol. i have to learn to do the tether thing for my Boss because she wants to use the EVO with her laptop. So I guess i'll get practice.
