I forgot to mention what I am doing next. First off the front center console was destroyed in the accident. ive decided to buy the same one i bought for the rear and mode it to fit in the front. I may even connect the two consoles to make one big matching one. That way I can fit a lot more components in them. The A/C controls will be relocated to the new center console.

Here is the next big project after that. I wanted to have two motorized screens in the top of the dash, but they are hard to find, and when you do, there cr@p. So I was looking at pictures of my dash and realize I can fit three 7 inch screens in it.

So with the HVAC controls gone, I should have a nice fit. I plan on replacing the Lilliput and replacing it with a VM70 since all the other screens will be VM70 units also. I plan on deleting the bottom half of both A/C vents. My only issue is what will the configuration be?

Should I keep the one in the middle and then have two at slight angles towards each seat?
Should the driver screens both be stacked then the passengers on the side of those?

    What do you guys think?

After fighting a loosing battle with my multi-zone system's motherboard, I decided to replace the mobo. It just doesnt work with what I want it to do. Instead I am going to retire the main systems board to the multizone system, then buy a second DVI-D to VGA converter, and see how the system runs off this mobo. I will then buy the exact mobo for the quad core setup.

Basically after a ton of processing of video, the system will just lock up. So it has to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your screen layout looks good to me, but as long as it's something you think you'll like. You're the one who has to live with it... As for the motherboard, if it's not working, THROW IT OUT! If it still kinda works, can I have it?

Yea, I am going with a screen in the middle and two screens at the bottom. That way I only have to block the lower AC vents off.

The motherboard is brand new, but it was a so called bargin board. I read a lot of complaints that taxing the system causes issues like I am having, but I figured because it was a Zotac, that maybe it was just user caused issues. The onboard graphics eat so much ram, and if to much is done on the system, it will just freeze. Its only been used about 20 times, and that was testing the multi-display stuff. I will gladly send you the board, this time not through fedex, it seems once they reach certain areas they dont care how they handle the packages.

Yeah. Just send it USPS, it works just as well around here. I've never had an issue with them other than them sending my college scholarship application forms to someone clear across town. But never a lost package so far. How much should I send you? I don't get paid till next week, though.

Dont worry about it, i'll send it to you at my cost. Its only 14.95 to send it. What I am starting to think is that the board wasnt compatiable with my processor, who knows. What I do know is that when i moved everything over to the 9300 mobo, the difference was like night and day. The unit is now super snappy and did not freeze once. Now I havent installed my DisplayLink adapters yet because it was so late at night, but I plan to do so today.

Thing that I hate about the Zotac 9300 board, is that the USB ports always have power. So even if I shut the system off, the USB hubs are still powered and all the LEDs are on. What setting so I have to choose to turn that that feature off?

Another downside to this upgrade is that I now have to buy another of the same Zotac 9300 Mobo, and then buy another DVI-D to VGA adpater. That is the only thing I hate about these boards also is that the DVI port is DVI-D and needs a special adapter. thankfully the adapter isnt as expensive as when i bought it. Originally it was $120.00, now I can pick one up for $54.00.

    Case Redo!

I decided to step back and take a look at my case and realized that it isn't going to work. I have no room for the amps and really do not want to take up anymore trunk space. I also have to leave a gap to get a special rod into a hole to release the spare tire, with the current setup, I would have to take the case apart. Here is the new design I have in mind.

As you can see its all more compact. Instead of the PC units going up, they will go to the side. This is all thanks to upgrading the second PC unit from a Micro-ATX to a Mini-ITX. In fact both units will use the same brand motherboard, just different RAM, Processors and HDD. The KVMP units will stay where they are. Right on top will go the secondary battery. Then followed by the two PC units. The shelf on top of those will be space for electrical stuff like PSU units, fuses, 5V step down units. Then on top of that will go the AMPS. With this design I actually save space. The tower will actually be lower and also not take up much floor space. So this is a win, win design.

All I have to do now is buy the second mobo, battery and amps and I will be able to start building. Right now I cant because I need to build around the components.

Now that the multi-zone system is done, I can now price it out. My goal was only to spend $400.00, which was blown to pieces.

    Zotac 9300-G-E / $119.00
    Intel 8200 Processor / $105.00
    Processor Fan / $25.00
    2 PQI DDR 800 sticks / $75.00
    Samsung 2.5 HDD / $40.00
    DisplayLink USB>VGA adapter x5 / $295.00
    Windows XP / FREE
    Centrafuse Auto / $79.99
    OPUS 320 / $171.00

    Total: 909.99

Well at least its all working stable. Since I have used this new mobo, the system can handle anything I throw at it. With CF running with all adapters active, I use about 10% CPU usage. I am anxious to test it with full video on all display, but I can do that till I get the screens in. That wont be for another 2 months.

Because this system is running so well with 6 displays and a Dual Core processor, it has me wondering if maybe getting a Core 2 Quad is way over kill. The main system is a dual zone setup, so only 2 display ports will be used, mind you there is a ton more USB devices.

What do you guys think? Maybe go with a Core 2 Duo Extreme instead of a Core to Quad?

idle speed on usb screens are completely different then when they are generating a video image..

using my laptop (hp G60, with pentium dual core--t4300, 2.1ghz), and a proximus usb screen, with a youtube video playing on the screen, it hovers around 30-60% usage.. idle speed-- just letting it sit there, cpu is rarely higher then 1-2% what the pc would be without the screen..
