Its in no way simple. Remember now I have to get six of them into the car. Yes its easier to power. I still need to learn Linux, which I hear is tough. In the end though, I know it will work though. I cant say that with the current system. Now dont worry, my DZ will still be in the car. In fact its more complicated then the MZ, but it works flawlessly. Its just that the software doesnt exist for the system.

Now I just have to shop for SD cards, and HDMI to VGA converters.

There are some more powerful open source platforms out there then the Raspberry Pi, The beagle board xm for example which people have run XBMC on flawlessly. They aren't quite as cheap as the raspberry pi, but it still wouldn't be that bad for 6 of them.

That is an excellent point and XBMC is a great piece of software.

Well Im going for cheap. LOL.... I think the Rasp PI will work out.

OK, I was walking my dogs, which is a 3 mile walk, so I have lots of time to think. So I was walking and thinking, d@mn I have to many screens in my car. It would be awkward for the driver to have 2 screens. So then I thought, why cant I use a kvmp on the driver screen? That way if I want to use the rear area for media, just hit a button. Not sure how the touchscreen switching would work when switching with in itself. Only thing to do is try.

I just saw the video of XBMC running on the RP, it looks really really good. I think the RP would be a great solution to your MZ system, they would even allow you to run only the stations you need, so if you only have 3 people in the car you wont need to run the hexacore for just one or two stations. But you will need some type of server to store media on, are you planning on using the DZ system for that, or running another dedicated system?

The DZ will handle all media... So if its not on, the media will be unavailable.

OK, I am bidding on a KVMP switch. This will be number 7. I want to see if I can have a KVMP switch on the same computer, just switching graphics card. That way I can hopefully delete the second one for the driver. The motorized screen will then go to the passenger, making my dash almost normal again.

Dont know if I posted, but my alternator fried itself. I guess the system draw was to much. So I ordered a 270 amp alt from Mechman. Also go a new battery from Pep Boys. For the rear I still have not got the reserve battery, so I am going to wait till I get that to run the system. The old alt melted cables and fuse holders, so I bought new ones.

As you can see looks nice again. This HO alt requires a ground from the alt to the battery so thats the cable you see added. Im wondering, do you think the bolt on neg battery terminal is OK? I had to use the long one in order to get the extra ground on there.


Here is the gap were my alt will go. It coming on Tuesday.


Here are the 5V 2amp cig lighter adapters and 5V 1amp cig light adapters. 7 of the 11 5v 2amp adapters are for the KVMP switches. 3 are for the HDMI to VGA converters. Then from the 7 5v 1amp chargers, six are for the future Raspberry Pi units and 1 is for a USB hub.
