LOL.... I was being sarcastic. I like guys that are mean to me :-) <winks eye @ enforcer> I'm mean too, but usually I have to have a reason, which seems to be things related to CF.

I am nearing the end.... Finally...... (Well as far as the main PC is concerned. Still need to install the Raspberry Pi units, but they dont go on sale till May.) I got the last main piece, the rear battery. In the end I went with a Kinetic HC2000. I did so because I was able to get it locally. Now all I have to do is get the KVMP switches wired back up, but not before buying fuse holders and wiring to wire the 12 cigarette adapters I have to install. All this will get started today. I hooked the battery to the alternator, so it can build up a charge. After that I can hook up the car pc.

Played with the car pc all day! Im glad it works! I replaced my sound card with with a Asus Xonar DX. Didnt have a chance to use it till today. I'm glad to say its way better then the soundblaster. When I had the SB, I had tons of EMI. With the Xonar, I have non. Played with CF, that was ok. Then I tried Destinator. Wow was it an awful experience. I pray CI gets the Sygic Nav in place soon. For now I will keep using my nav from my Android.

Where did you get that from? I was under the impression that they would go on sale any time now.

I havent got them. Any hardware that I have installed for them, is strictly going by their spec sheets. They were supposed to go on sale in January, but from all the stuff I have been reading, it will be in MAY. My worry is that so many people already want this thing, and word of mouth is making even more people want it, that the first 10,000 units will sell out fairly fast. Im keeping my fingers crossed.

Several?????????? LOL, I am glad it is over. I am having a few issues though. I cant use hibernate with CF, it will not reactivate the USB relay which controls my amps. I am going to try to find a software that activates the relay in Windows, rather than CF. Also my TPMS keeps telling me its not connected. It is physically, but its via a 7 port hub. The hubs were $7.95 and I think thats the problem. I am going to have to buy good quality ones. The ones I currently have give to many errors like device malfunctions. I havent tested hybrid sleep yet. I want to get all the other issues out the way first. I may also update to CF 4.0. CF 3.6 is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy yyyyyyyyyyy to buggy, especially in regards to dual zone. The rear passengers were quickly able to create and recreate massive bugs, which caused me to loose control of the front, and them control it from the rear (WTF). Other issues like my DVD controls vanishing and their volume controls coming up on my screen, were also headaches. One big thing that bugged me to no end was them listening to music or movies. The rear has its own soundcard but if the rear user fussed with the controls on their end, the sound would start coming out the main soundcard, thats a hugeeeeee no no. Im praying 4.0 fixes most of these issues. I havent bothered with BT yet, I hope I have no issues from that.

Into the future. The Raspberry Pi has two USB ports, with each port getting 500ma. Originally I was going to use one for the user port (which is powered by the main PC), and then the KVMP would go in the other. After researching though, putting an OS on a SD card may make the setups slow. People are recommending USB thumb Drive for the OS because it will be much much faster. You think the Raspberry Pi will be fine if I connect a non powered 4 port USB hub to it and then connected the user port (powered by main PC) and USB thumbdrive to the Hub?

CF is a bit disappointing I think. They started implementing dual zone features how many years ago now? And they still don't even have a basic version that works just basic functions in dual zone without bugs. I had high hopes for it when I started reading into this stuff but it's pretty obvious that CF is not even remotely a dual zone solution at this point. I can't believe they charge people for that software honestly. And then you have to pay to upgrade it as well?

I'd really like to do dual zone, and the only way it seems logical to do it is via VM and a powerful CPU or with separate devices on each screen.

If you get a Class 10 SD card I honestly don't see how a thumb drive could be any faster? If you buy the cheapest Class 1 or Class 4 SD cards then yeah it'd be pretty slow.

I know, that was when CI really listened. I remember telling them, hey listen, I am going to be trying to use more then one screen, can you do this and that. The next update it was there. Now though, I have bashed, pleaded, begged that they fix dual zone (which they are marketing as multi-zone) and nothing. When they do work on it, it seems to get worse! I mean my friends had such a hard time with it, and I was rather embarrassed to have a nice set up, only to have it made look ugly by the software that runs on it.

As far as the upgrading, we get a discount, but I was ****ed with the 4.0 update. It left so many of the bugs from 3.6 and added features that could have waited. My setup is just so geared towards CF though, that im scared to venture into anything else. I know for a fact RR will run, but the amount of tweaking would drive me to drink and commit suicide, lol.

CFs dual zone does work enough, they just have to get rid of the minor bugs, which 4.0 may have done. Im scared to install it, and then loose everything I have in 3.6 then have to go back to 3.6 because 4.0 is just as bad. Its when they advertise multi-zone where CF falls flat. I have 6 seats in my truck and you cant use all six at the same time. You can use two zone (dual zone) but once you add more then that, sharing issues start popping up. Say for example video. Only one zone can do it at a time. If more then one tries, that seat takes video feature from the other, WTF! So in a dual zone setting this is ok, because the driver shouldnt be doing anything video anyways. Thats why on my install, my screen only does driver stuff and the rear does multimedia stuff.

In the end, for multi-zone, I think this Raspberry Pi experiment will work. (crosses fingers)

HMMMM, see thats how much I know about SD cards. I didnt know about classes. Class 10 is 10mbps, if I am reading wiki right. Now a USB reads about 34mbps and is fairly cheap to buy. Remember this project has to be as low budget as possible to make it feasible for others to do. I am trying to do all this for under $100 a seat. I have five 4 port hubs from the hexacore multizone experiment (which failed), so I can recycle them into the new project. I saw 8gb Sandisk cruizers for about $5 the other day. So I can scoop up 6 of those. Whats going to cost money are the Raspberry Pi, the HDMI to VGA converters and everything else I have already, including the power supply for both the Raspberry Pi and HDMI to VGA converters.
