There are low speed and high speed USB thumb drives as well. Those cheap ones generally are of the slower speeds and you will have issues with them.

If you wanted to get a "little" crazy (I don't think 30 bucks is bad) there are these.

But the 8gb class 10 SD cards are like 10 bucks on newegg.

As for USB thumb drives well lets see.

As you can see here the cheaper ones have much lower write speeds

This ones 10MB/s write which is the same as the Class 10 SD cards. I like the SD card option because you're not using any of your limited USB ports and also not using up USB bandwidth. Even using a hub you will be limited in bandwidth on the USB lanes and this could actually slow down your read/write speeds as well if you get many high bandwidth devices going at once.

OK, lol, so you sold me on the SD cards. Plus I would like one less USB device to worry about. So I guess I am once again retiring the hubs, lol.

I am having an issue with instant on (hybrid sleep). No matter what I set it to, it keeps hibernating. If any of you guys have knowledge, can you visit this thread and give advice. http://www.mp3car.com/power-supplies...ml#post1468421

Decided to settle with hibernation. My setup is doing so much during shut down and startup that sleep is broken and I get the "didnt shut down correctly" error. I guess I have to many USB devices and way to many external power supplies. Now I I think 12V was constant, I can do sleep because all the power supplies would stay on, but that adds a fire hazard in my eyes.

Well I would like to share some pictures! Here is the Tobiathin Core active at night. I still need to install the rear screens for the third row. Problem is one screen went bad, so waiting on that to be returned to me from short-ciruit.com. Also need to fiberglass the rear C-pillars. Right now all you see is the base, wood, and screen sleeves. I also need to install my dash rear view screen and the passenger flip up. I x'ed out my screen and am trying to use a KVMP switch to switch my screen between front and rear. Makes it less hassle and practical.

Ok, I decided that I really did not want to add a second screen for the driver to use rear controls. So I decided to try an experiment with a KVMP switch I bought. Basically I connected it to the main screen for the driver. PC1 was main screen, PC2 I connected to rear screen. The touchscreen was the same. I was hoping that when I went from front to rear screen, the computer would think it was a different touchscreen being connected. Well my gamble was correct. When I went from front screen input to rear, Win7 treated it as a new touchscreen. I then setup touchkit to assign screens. Now when I go to front, touchscreen automatically puts it to the front screen. When I go to rear, it automatically puts it to rear. I am so happy this idea worked out!

Isn’t it great when something actually works for a change, seems such a rare event for us these days with complex CAR-PCs. I like the night time pictures, man if you’re anything like me I bet you’re looking forward to that finish line!

Yea, but knowing my luck, something will not work. Only thing I hate is that I have to buy another keyboard emulator. I need to make controls to use this new KVMP switch. To switch PC view, I have to hit ctrl, ctrl, F1, enter. Then the same to switch back. Now on my other KVMP switches it brings the USB device with it. With this one, I have to hit ctrl, ctrl, F5, enter. I doubt I will use the controls much, but still need them. I also notice that I hear Windows disconnecting something in the background over and over. Wonder if its from the odd way Im using the KVMP. I think they are designed to use with two PC, not used in one single PC. I'll have to play some more to track it down.

I am mainly using single zone, but any media like visuals and video is being pushed to the rear. The dual zone has to many bugs. I mean it goes crazy!!!!!!!!!! I am hoping a upgrade to CF 4 will clear it up.

Is that a flip down screen in the middle? It looks huge compared to what I normally see lol.

So, with your 'single zone', can the other users do anything yet, or is it just cloned from the front? I'm excited to see how that rasberry pi experiment turns out!

Yes, it is fairly large. In fact its the biggest one they have with VGA support. No other company makes it. It from a company called Eonon. Me and a friend used it to watch a TV show I can only get online and we had to sit in the third row seats, otherwise it was way to in your face.

Single zone means that only I have control. The passengers can not do anything. All media stuff is pushed to the rear screens, since it is against the law to display on the driver screen. I am trying to wait till Centrafuse Inc releases the 4.1 update, which has multi-zone fixes and much needed new navigation. Once that drops, I will update, then start on multi-zone testing again, which in my opinion is dual-zone.

Now as far as the true multi-zone project, the Raspberry Pi units, I cant wait till the release the units!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just hope that they dont sell so fast that I dont get mine and have to wait.
