There are some business adages that seem to work for me: (1) Commend in public; criticize privately. (2) Don't surprise your managers; give them a heads-up even on good news, and especially on bad news. (3) Always deliver bad news in person; it's gutless to do less. When there's no other way, handle it over the phone, and stay on the phone until the shock wears off. When it's personal, stay in the room or on the line until the tears are over. Stay available when they need you.

To me, that's all just common courtesy, but it's getting less common. Whether it's common or not, doing the hard stuff well is a real sign of character. People who handle themselves well in crisis are the ones I want around me.
It sounds more like a business stand point. I use my facebook for strict personal, and not even family have it, because my sexuality, and rude nature would shock them, lol. So I guess I could say I use it more for entertainment. As far as you morals, I agree, things like that should be done in person. Im very notorious for being an in your face type of person. Only things that arent worth it, like breaking up with someone are done through text. Also things that are super important and they have no other way to reach me.

Well, I'm almost done installing all my Christmas goodies. I got some Euro tail lights and some outdoor speakers for my truck. (too bad no PSU though... ) I also got a handheld video camera and a 3 gallon air compressor. I'll take some pix of my tail lights and (installed) outdoor speakers and post them later. I just need to wire the last speaker up. I have them hidden in my toolbox so I can keep them locked up. All I have to do is flip a toggle in the cab and hook an iPod or something up and I have outdoor sound. No need to run my entire truck system for a party or something. (The sub runs down the battery uber fast)

Now I just a PSU and I can DJ from the cab of my truck. Oh, yeah, I also need a source switcher. eBay's good for that, though.

    Just need red bulbs now.
EDIT: Bulbs ordered. Coming from China in 3 weeks...

    Passenger Rear tail light:

    Driver rear tail light:

The extra wires coming out around my tailgate go to the trailer connector for the Christmas lights I put on my side rails (blinkers) and the top of my headache rack (brake light). Got a bunch of comments about it.

Passenger toolbox speaker installed (still need to finish running the wires for it though.):

Need to clean out my toolbox... :

    Driver toolbox speaker installed:

Sliding tray is visible here. I need to put in some sort of stops to keep it from sliding into my speakers and breaking them when I turn...

Screws poking through one of the tray boxes inside the toolbox. Both speakers are mounted in this way.

Looking good, except for these screws. Wouldn't this be better done with bolts and nuts? You'd be a lot less likely to wound yourself on them, and you'd have a much more secure installation.

Well, one side is going to have a RCA patch box that goes inside the cab to the amp that will be held in with the same screws, but I haven't figured out the other side. But as far as nuts/bolts go, there really isn't enough room in that little tray for me to get my fat hands in there... Plus, I can handle hurting myself. I just wanted to make it as painful as possible for someone trying to steal the speakers (thus putting them in the locking toolbox). I may still give the nuts/bolts thing a try because, truth be told, when I did this I didn't have any on hand.....

Gonna go ahead and post an update here as well. Hope no one minds...

I figured out that the Opus I have still works, it just doesn't send the power-on-pulse. So, easy fix, set the BIOS to power on after power is restored. should work, right? If not, I'll have to rig something up to turn the board on when I start the truck. And I need to find a spot for another toggle switch. I'm gonna wire up a switch I've had lying around (it's a 3-way switch). I'm gonna have normal (with ignition), off, and on (straight to battery). That way if I want the PC on while the truck isn't, I can just hit the switch. I ordered a replacement ashtray so i can make a switch panel out of it, but it won't be in for awhile. The person I ordered it from is stuck in about 2 1/2 feet of snow, so I'll get it whenever.

I confess -- I didn't think of that aspect. I'm very much in favor of making it painful for the thieves of the world, and the more painful, the better. No mercy.

Working on the PC Now. Looks like I'll be using the relay trick. Meh. that! I'm just gonna wire up a momentary toggle in the front. Minor inconvenience till I can get a new PSU.

Dang wind today. I gotta fix a hose on my PCV valve so maybe my MPG will go up. I'm gonna fix it and then go get fuel, then come back and get as much as I can wired up on the truck for the PC. I got a lot of wires to hide and wrap up...

I got the PCV hose fixed. The wind was blowing so bad that there was less than a mile of visibility. Then it started raining. So it rained mud. I got bored so I flashed a custom BIOS logo to my TruckPC and I went and locked myself in the truck and hid some wires.

It's supposed to snow tomorrow. I hope it does, but then I don't. I haven't seen snow since this time 2 years ago. But if it snows, I can't finish running my speaker wires outside of my truck and I can't wire my TruckPC up. Here's hoping for a compromise...
