Well it was cold today but I finished getting everything wired up. I finished my outside speakers and got the TruckPC in. I just need to move the GPS head because it's interfering with the XM antenna and put in a 2-way toggle so I can switch between an IGN switched or a always on trigger wire. I also need to make the spacers for my headunit box where it fits onto the console. Guess I get to ring in the new year later by using the saw again.

Just remember.... take your time with everything. I guess this is year number three for me..... I intend to finish this year though. i already bought my Centrafuse, just waiting for the 3.2 update so I can test the multi-zone system (which has been done for 2 months). Bought the 0 gauge wire, so now I can run electrical too.

I'm actually waiting on the resin to cure in my ex-ashtray so I'll have a space for 3 toggle switches or my voltmeter and 1 toggle. And as soon as the paint dries, I'll have my spacers to go on my headunit between it's case and the console. Once I get it put together I'll snap some pix and get them up on here.

The OPUS 120 that I have is now very sensitive to power fluctuations... Any time that the bass hits very hard and there is a voltage drop, the computer reboots. I think my next purchase is going to be a M4...

I think i sorted out the OPUS problems, no no M4 for now. But my (early) birthday present was ordered last night. A 64GB 3G iPad! (In before new iPad claims) I know the new one is supposed to be coming out soon, but I can do without a camera, so we ordered it. It should be in Friday or Saturday.

Congratulations! I'd looked at iPads owned by other people, and thought they were very nice, but that I'd stick with my netbook and laptop. Then I got an iPad for Christmas. Now my netbook and laptop are feeling abandoned.

The iPad does almost everything I need in a portable system. It's not very good for typing, though, so I bought a ZaggMate case with Bluetooth keyboard. It has a good enough keyboard that it pretty much resolves any typing problems, and the aluminum shell is a great protector for the screen. When I don't need the case or keyboard, I just use the iPad alone. Perfect.

I never thought I'd like this device this much . . . it's going to get a lot of use.

I don't think the iPad alone can replace the carPC. But I'd bet the new model will come closer, and that some of the Android devices being announced will be functional enough that no carPC will be necessary -- just a carDroid.

If just enough is really good, then too much ought to be perfect.

I'm not planning on replacing my TruckPC, just supplementing. I can tether the 3G from the iPad to my PC and use that.

Congratulations, looks like your way ahead of me, especially since I have to get a new car. The HiJack was totaled. Now I'm switching to a van. I'm going to go with a Astro Van since its not to big.
