I know I'm new here and my idea could be wrong but, what if you could incorporate solar panels as a secondary power supply? They may be expensive but they produce little heat and can take some of the stress from the battery.

    Just an idea.

That is a good idea and it's actually something I do in my local setup. However, the goals of this project are such that you should be able to run a few days without the need of anything else. Solar panels or secondary batteries are bonus stuff but not required to meet the goals.

Wow, this IGEP board is looking good, I couldn't find any information about the cost of the expansion card, what is the total price running now for the controller and screen?
    IGEPv2 + Expansion Module + LCD?

    igepv2 (1GHz) = $243
    7" seiko LCD = $153
    expansion board = $70-100
    dcdc-usb = $60
    bybyte double-din case: $55

Total for the base components so far: $581-610

I was told by sales at ISEE that expansion board would be available first of November. Also, the description for the new igepv2 has changed in the store. It's now being advertised as 800MHz... Not sure what is up with that.

Doing this exercise has forced me to look at the prices in USD instead of in euros like they are advertised on the site. Subsequently, the price of the igep makes the beagleboard at $179 look more appealing. The igep does have wifi and bt built in though which does add some value. I'm hoping the expansion board will cost under $70.

Perhaps I'm not up-to-date on the subject, but I always thought resistive was not capable of multi-touch.

No matter, I am following this project with great anticipation.

    Cheers.
