Wow the price for the expansion board is 181.0€ or $252.71. http://shop.igep.es/index.php?main_p...products_id=49

It might be worth it because of the following
Composite Video Inputs x 2 (backup camera, Ext.)
    LCD interface built on
VGA output to run second monitor

    but I am not sure.

    What are your thoughts?

OMAP3530 doesn't support VGA + HDMI or VGA + LCD. You can have Composite/SVideo and VGA/HDMI/LCD though.

Yeah, it's likely only single video output + mirrored signal on the svideo/composite outputs. That's how it works on my phone anyway (n900). I assume it's the same for other OMAP-based phones. The price of the screen at ~$180 and the price of the expansion board at ~$255 is getting pretty discouraging. It'd be nice to have the GPRS built in but... meh. The built in CAN controller also was appealing but not $255 appealing...

Currently I'm in the middle of moving, but I'm about ready to set up a corner in the house where I can start hacking again.

In other news, there is an upstream kernel patch to get egalax-based touchscreens working. For those of you not aware, egalax worked in LinuxICE but subsequent kernels had broken drivers. I'm going to try to backport this patch to my igep kernel and see if I can get it all working.

    Also meego 1.1 was released.

    stay tuned...

I think you have a different issue... 9.04/LinuxICE didn't have the issue I'm talking about because the kernel is pre 2.6.31. However, I'm not sure the version of X you have in 9.04 supports all the stuff it should. The egalaxTouch driver should work fine if you really have a egalax based touchscreen and it's working properly. I've tested LinuxICE with about 3 different egalax based screens and they all work.

At any rate, here are the resources for the bug I'm talking about:

    long term testing

Since moving to my new apt, I had to make room in my trunk during the move. I thought this would be a good time to move my secondary battery into my "lab" to do some long term testing on the igep.

The idea is to produce some numbers over the next few weeks to give an indication on how long the igep will run on just a car battery. Success criteria is any battery voltage above 11.4. First, I will test in an unoptimized condition. This will give me a base for later testing. So for the next several days, I'm running stock ubuntu 10.10 with hdmi and ethernet hooked up. Here are the some numbers for about 12 hrs of operation:

    date - time - volts
    11/19/2010 - 20:48:00 - 12.5
    11/20/2010 - 08:28:00 - 12.45

As you can see, in about 12hrs it sapped 0.05 volts out of the battery. Running the igep is definitely safe overnight. More data to follow.
