    1999 Cirrus..."laptop install"

Now before you get all over my butt about using a laptop, I am really not. My dads laptop was purchased in 06' or 07' and was mainly for sermon writing. Nothing to powerful but got the job done. Come to find out it ran vista well. After my dad passed away, I started using the laptop for my work in High School. During this time This laptop fell out of my hands and took a tumbling fall down a flight of steps and cracked the screen. Then my last year of HS I got another laptop for getting into post secondary. Well for a long time I wanted to use it for something. During this I took it all apart down to the PCB and got it to run only on the eternal display. I think i will build a custom power supply for my Laptop mother board and mount it all in a Plexiglas case. I will not want to use a touch display. I will be only using a stranded VGA 7 inch screen. I will use some sort of feed back device to control the software. I will also attach a extra wire to the PCB to tell the computer when to turn on and off.
I will have pics of the MB ups soon.
    Hope this all goes well!!

don't worry, it sounds like a good use for a laptop that would have otherwise been thrown out..

the griffin powermate, and space navigator are 2 of the most popular carpc- controllers for those without touch screens(the powermate is the cheaper solution)

i assume by asking for a vga-only screen, you mean you do not want touch screen?

    check here:

for sound cards, the best one to avoid is the creative x-fi usb one-- many issues with it..
