Is the 2009 model the latest of this model?

Or are there new models out without breaking the wallet to much?

    Thanks,

    Jack.

the 701 is a older screen, but it is one of the cheapest, so it stay around.

there are a couple different options, but none are as cheap as the 701..

there is the 629-- the major difference is that this one has a led backlight-- otherwise, it uses the same insides as the 701, it just has a different bezel:

on the 701, all the buttons are along the right-hand side of the screen, the 619 has the buttons on the bottom. but being that you are using the dd kit, this won't matter..

there is also the 669-- there is a article in the display section that theonlykid (owner/employee of mo-co-so) wrote describing the major differences in this category-- basically, these have vga, dvi, and hdmi inputs, and use a different lcd panel..

i didn't realize it at first, but your ebay link is for a item located in california, so it might be cheaper to get the screen from mo-co-so, even after shipping(even the 669 is $200 US-- $30 US cheaper then your ebay link)

Okay thank you soundman for all your information, am starting to get further and a better understand of my project!

so for a newbie with 150 pound / 230 dollars to spend on a screen including shipping, what would you recommend to be the best?

I don't want anything which I'm going to have to disassemble myself lol, car and computer I will mess around with but don't want to start taking apart screens as well

    Thanks again,

    Jack.

If cost is the issue, go with the mo-co-so one:

    http://www.mo-co-so.com/Double-DIN-L...lil-701-dd.htm

I'm not sure how much the shipping will be, but it is the cheapest one as far as the base price is concerned.
I have bad luck with vehicles...

lol, i re-read my last post... i really sound like i know what i am talking about when it comes to screens-- i really don't know much, and spent less time then i would like to admit searching for that stuff..

anyway's... so far, i kind of like the 669.. i am currently using a 629 led, and there really isn't much to complain about other then sunlight readibility, but i am not ready to spend $500 on a optically bonded transflective screen yet(at least until summer), so it works...

but i kind of regret not having a reverse camera input--a additional cost option from most places-- and a feature that i really don't need but something to tinker with, and while my first carpc only had vga outputs, my most recent carpc build has vga/dvi/hdmi outputs, but i am stuck using vga because that is all my monitor supports...

granted, there really isn't much visible quality difference between the cable formats, i just like the bragging rights that come with it, and the fact that it gives me something else to tinker with..

i don't think there is one..

anything with a atom processor seems to fare pretty well, though everyone has their own brand preference(zotac, intel, and jetway are the more popular ones), and then there are always the nuts that need morhe powah!!and end up with something like a i3, pentium dual core, core2duo, etc..

Okay haven't updated for a while but managed to move the hazards button and central locking. After moving the central locking button my car wouldn't start. Not even crank. The first thing that came to mind was a dead battery (although I did have dash lights and stero etc).

I tried to jump start but no luck. I thought that I had interfered with the immobiliser, my central locking wouldn't work either.

I let my neighbour (mechanic) have a look and after a couple of hours of going through all my fuses I had blown to of them. Insert new ones and it fired up. Phew. Could of been alot worse.

I must of touched some of the wires for the central locking button together when moving, extending and soldering them.

Lesson I have learnt is to make sure my battery is disconnected before messing with anything like central locking and other internal electrics.

I have run out of room on my selected panel (new picture to come) for the rear demister so currently trying to decide if I should did another location or just get rid of it.

Currently in college but more pictures to come.

    Jack.

Today I have made some more progress. First of all purchase a M4 atx PSU from eBay for 47 including postage.

Might even be a UK seller from these forums selling. I was the only bidder.

I got together my MATX motherboard. 4Gb ddr2 ram, asrock motherboard an installed xp professional. Stripped it to basics. Downloaded centrafuse trial. Enabled hibernation and changed all windows logos to Renault.

    More to come!

    Jack.
