I bought an electric orbital sander today. There was no way I was sanding all this foam by hand. I should have some progress pics by monday night.

I think your doing way to much work on your center console. You can build it entirely out of MDF, and Plastic sheets. Saves so much time. Then you wrap it and it looks perfect. Here are pictures of mine. I will warn that I built the MDF structure, but I had a professional wrap it.
See I basically built a box, then cut up a bought Rampage van center console, merged them, then used plastic sheets to get rid of all the sharp edges. The guy that wrapped it then lays down a thin layer of foam then wraps it.
Here it is finished. So I say wrapping is the best option. You just have to find a good one that does an awesome job. I went through two before I found the guy I have.
Now I'm in the process of building a front console (the original was destroyed in an accident) then I will merge this one and the new one to make one big one. I most def prefer wrapping over fiberglassing. Problem is you cant wrap all the interior... or can you?

Cool job always
I don't see it as too much work. MDF is one solution and the most cost/time effective solution, but it is kind of cool to try other construction techniques and there are added benefits to glass construction as well. You definitely can get smoother angles and more complex shapes with glass (unless you are one of those super human MDF guys!). You also have the option to finish it in other materials such as gloss paint or texture like the dash etc.
I see merit in both projects.
Keep the updates coming 4ofakind !

Like Phil said both styles have merit. And my choice may be too much work for you based on what you want out of your console. But based on what I want out of my console, I am actually doing the bare minimum.
Your console came out nice and looks real good, but I would prefer more rounded contours in mine that I cant get without my current fabrication.
If I were to do an all MDF console it would look similar to this:
Still working on mine. Things are slowing a little because of the holidays. Should have more progress in about a week.

Mine has lots of contours! You make it seem like its a big box. Its so funny that you posted a picture of another Durango or is it a Dakota. I think that console going in is wayyyyy to boxy, but it did give me ideas on how to work on mine as far as the way the dash and console come together. All though his looks a bit different then mine. Seems the cars original dash comes all the way down to the floor, where as mine has a gap.
I wish I could glass.... I dont mind the center console being wrapped, because the passengers interact with it. I do have several body interior panels though that I want to glass, but cant seem to find anyone, nor can I even attempt to do myself.

Still 10 points for the effort!!
Merry Christmas everyone!
Small update: Yesterday I had some time so I finished up the wiring, installed the fuses, and ops checked everything. It powered up nicely and shut down nicely. Of course with my monitor broken i could see only the various status LEDs and they said all was well. I was happy.
As for my center console, it has pretty much reached the limits of my abilities. I have it scheduled to go to a professional shop to finish it up. Of course pics will come when i get it back.
Until then, be safe.
