RCJoycon is a challange from a couple of angles. One, the resistance from the nav board is the same for some buttons and when you change out the various combination of wires it affects the value of the RCJoycon. I played with it for hours and got every button to work on the Nissan Nav console. The resistance range can be tight at times but you can get the command sucessfully exicuted. I recommend even reversing polarity on some buttons/Joycon connection as that seemed to work best. however I did have 3 repeats. I also had long hold working so I had a ton of variables.
Next is how you interface the Joycon to your computer. I used Cat 5 cable which was perfect until..... I wanted to use male/female connectors behind the nav console to disconnect the JoyCon if I ever watned to remove the LCD screen. Well this turned out to be a huge mistake as with all the connectors it ended up approx the siize of a hard ball in baseball.
So I Have it all wired up but I severed the connections as I was running out of time.
I use the touchscreen, my Logitech Mini Dinovo, touchpad, Iphone (imouse) as input. I am really re-thinking of soldering my Xenarc controls to the nav button instead. Why? I have so many ways to input the carputer, but no way to input the LCD controls. I have not needed any type of input for it since the install, it auto starts every time. But I want to have it just in case.
No matter what you do, you will need to solder very small wires, use a magnifying glass and patentce. :)
For now, I am going to leave it as is. Everything works and this would be just as a backup, so there is no priority. I will revisit it perhaps next year. Right now the console seems are perfect with no gaps and is perfectly aligned. I did not break, scratch or damage anything re-installing the console. I really wonder if its worth the risk to deconstruct again for a feature with such a low priority.
Which Xenarc did you use (model Number ) ?, Also where did you get the NAV pad from ?
Hey amRonics, I got the Nav pad from Courtesy Nissan and the Xenarc is the 700TSH
Thought there's somewhere else. It's so pricey at courtesy parts :tsk: .
