Samsung Galaxy 10.1 custom Civic install, Actual Build Started on Page 18

BINGO!!!! A pair of these monitors you linked, and keep the existing converter I have providing it works with just the vga output, and then one of these to feed the monitors (not necessarily this exact model but something like it). Even with those I'm at about the same price as the converter's I just talked about. I'm guessing anyway, 140.00 x 2 = 280, + 16.00 = 296.00.

Or am I not thinking about this correctly? I mean theoretically, if when I test the VGA signal possibility and it works, then I should be able to split that signal to feed both monitors right?

You know what, I'm gonna go to bed. I'm supposed to get up at 515 for boot camp. I'll be back around tomorrow. Thanks everyone for your inputs. I'll test the vga thought tomorrow. Gonna have to bring home a monitor from work or something I guess. I do have one. Not a big deal!

Very cool, maybe we could meet up someday. Anyway, I would help with research now, but I got to go to bed. I think you should definitely consider an HDMI monitor, I think the results may be disappointing with conversions (not only resolution, but color rendering, ghosting, etc.). Also, if I were a kid, having a 10" bright IPS display, and a 7" dim one in front of me, I would tend to stick my neck out and check the pretty 10" instead...

I can't say much about headrests screens, because I'm using a Nook Color and a Galaxy tab for my headrests. My 3 year old loves touchscreens, so YMMV. I got two HP Touchpads, so I'm thinking of using that instead.

Provided you already have a solution for sound only for the front passengers, then I think it makes sense! Just don't forget the taxes...LOL

What do you mean? I'd still be running through the converter. Unless I can't. I'm going to go on my car audio forum now and check out some stuff regarding the 3.5mm output. I know that it's not that strong and the quality is not that great. But remember I'm also going into a high end processor. So I'm hoping that will take care of the lesser quality signal, but at the same time I can also find the best spot for the signal, using a meter, and then keep it there and if it's not that loud incorporate a line driver for it. I'll have to see what I can find out. I'll present some stuff to those guys and see what they suggest.

The other thing, I went out and checked my car, and between the seats behind the center console, I have about 9" of usable space (that's tight) and could most likely put in an 8 inch monitor. I'd much more prefer the dual in the headrests, but depending on money, i'll have to address that then. I could always buy them one at a time. It's not like they're going in any time soon.

Yes, that's what was talking about re: front. I wouldn't worry much about the 3.5mm output, if it's good enough for headphones, it should be good enough for a car? You can always bring your tablet to a nice high end audio store (if you don't have one already), grab the most expensive $500.00 headphone and test it playing the same song on a "reasonable" audio setup (not a $10K either, of course) they might have there. In my opinion, if you can't see any fault with a good headphone, you won't notice in the car, no matter how good you setup is.

I'm thinking that if i can just use the HDMI output for the monitors, like you said, and then the 3.5mm jack for the audio it'll be alot less heartache. I've got a set of Beat's by Dre and they sound alright. But I will say this, the volume on the tablet itself just simply doesn't seem very strong which is what I'm worried about. I remember watching movies on it when I was in Washington a couple weeks ago, and I had to turn it about 90% up to get it strong. That seems high to me, but maybe it's not.

Anyway, I've posted up over on the other forums, and I'll take that monitor home tonight, and report back later.

I am reading on your thread here and while I will read through it, i'm curious if you can sum up what you found out. That would be perfect I think for my application, at least from what you posted originally. If you haven't guessed by the way, I'm a nut for matching gear so a pair of Samsung screens would be primo for me! Off to read now!

I like to have a better control of the 3.5mm output, that's why I use a JL-Audio CL-RLC preamp/vol control from my tablet-pc into my OEM headunit. Works good enough for me, but maybe you have already a better setup. But unless you want 5.1/7.1 audio, I wouldn't worry about going all digital, but I think I'm in the minority here.

It seems to be a better than average screen, but there's no enclosure for it, so I'm not too excited at this point. It's a bare screen, no enclosure or headrest kit. That's the beauty of the Mo-co-so screen, great price, brilliant enough, and the headrest kit. There's a video comparing it to the Samsung one somewhere, I think it's on mp3car.com front page.

I would also think about using two screens mounted on the roof, but instead of in the center (which would block the rearview mirror), putting them on top of each headrest.

Ya my volume control is going to operate via the Bit One Processor DRC. So I basically need to set the tablet volume to the best output, then the volume from the DRC is what controls the rest. That gives me the best optimal input volume without clipping from the tablet, it breaks up the signal through the bit one processor, and then turns that up with that volume control instead of the tablet turning it up or down. Don't know if that makes sense or not.

The JL Audio one is a great unit too though. Heard nothing but great things about it.

As far as the head rest monitors, I'm not so stuck IN the headrests, but the cutouts are already there. I thought about going above in the ceiling with drop downs but the problem there is that I dont' want them always down, in which case unless I came up with some sort of actuator application, I'd have to pull them down and put them up every time cause most of the time the girls would be strapped in their car seats. And to be honest, the less they touch them the more comfortable I am!

The center console I'm talking about is fabricating a mount to go behind the console, not in the ceiling. I used to have an expedition with a rear entertainment system and the drop down screen in the center I thought was the worst design ever. I thought I had a picture of the center console idea, cause I was going to do it before, but I can't seem to find it. Basically, if you're sitting in your driver seat, the armrest center console, or what would be one like in my car, behind that there's a gap between the console back and the front of the back seat. I'm talking about fiber glassing a mount to the back of the console and putting the monitor there, down out of view of the driver, and centered so they can both see it.
