Ok, that's a good point. It does seem to go for days without needing a charge. I still need to power the converter though. So I guess I'll stick with the P O L i have and use it for that. Thanks man. I'm planning on getting that thing done and ready for install next week while I'm off. Maybe I can get it installed, even thought he rest of the system won't be anywhere near done. Lots to come that's for sure.

I was thinking about it last night and I have to have a power source to the tablet. I have to have it for the HDMI to work! So I need a charger up front. So I guess I'm back to my original question. Can I run them both off the same POL or do I need one for both, or should I go with a bigger device?

What type of adapters do these thing use? Can you simply use a USB car adapter? I have a Mi-Fi in the car with mini-usb connector. The Mi-Fi has its own battery, but i wanted to keep it on 24/7. It only lasts 4 hours on battery, So I bought a 5V 1amp USB car charger. So far the Mi-Fi has been on for almost 1 month.

The tablet has a usb to 30pin connector, and the converter has a barrel connector to it an goes to a wall plug. Both are 5v after testing, and I'm not sure of the watts on it.

I dont think its the watts you want to look for. Its the Amps. Say for example my Mi-Fi requires 500 mAmps at least to charge. So I paried it with a 1 amp charger. I took my numbers from the device of the wall plug itself, it should list it there.

Just for reference, watts is a measure of power which is amps x volts so it is related and although more commonly rated in AC circuits, does apply to DC as well. If the voltage is a fixed number which in this case is 5v, and the current requirement is 500mA, then finding a supply that outputs 2.5w is the same thing as a device that is rated at 500mA. Just thought I would clarify this.

Dang it, I forgot to update this forum. I've been on my other forums updating and not doing all the audio over here, so I forget to post the tablet portion. I'll catch everyone up right now!

Ok another day in the books. Not nearly as much done as I thought I'd get, but I'm pretty pleased with the progress. I can see things coming together.

First up I started Version 2 of the tablet pan. The more and more I look at this and think about it, the more and more complex it seems. But I'm gonna keep working at it. Here we go.



If you will recall, I was going to use the docking station for this. After taping it up, and looking at it I decided not to do it that way. I decided I would just use the base part of it, and cut it in later. Thankfully I decided this after tape and not after glass or there'd be a version 3.








Time for glass! ALl my materials, including my coffee! Let's go for it.




Got some wax on it this time to help with the separation after drying.


Then I started the glassing process!
