2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee - CarPc and 7" touch monitor

    Project:
Out with original stereo, in with 7" touch monitor and CarPc with Win7 and Centrafuse
    Use original Infinity 180w amplifier
    Rear view camera
    OBDII connect
    Movie server for iPad
    GPS
    DAB
    (plus many other ideas)

1st step was to mount the 7" Lilliput UM-70 USB Touch monitor

    Dremmel is a lovely tool

To be able to fit the monitor I had to cut out as much as I could over and under the monitor.

Then filling the gap on each side of the monitor.

    Preparing for the last step...

    Sanding and sanding...

Painted and with the monitor in place.

    Before and After

    Next step...

    Hi!

It has been a while since I started this project, but I'm still working on it

From the battery I have a 4,5 mm2 power cable back to the 12 to 230v unit in the trunk.

In with the power cable and 2x USB cables.

60 Amp fuse, primary for short cut problems.

The Laptop with USB Audio, USB hub with LAN, Video capture (rear camera), Bluetooth, GPS and 2,4 Ghz connection to keyboard/mouse pad.

I "added" new line in and power connection on the amplifier.

    And of course a fuse

    This i much better!

    About the iPad question...:
I'm not mounting it, but the kids can view movies from a Video server on the computer.
    More info about it later

were you able to provide low level audio input directly to the infinity amp and it worked? i thought it was expecting speaker-level inputs coming form the headunit. thanks!

Yes, it worked very good. The connection is direct from the headphone output on the laptop and to the audio input on the Infinity amp.

No, I'm pretty sure that the output from the head unit is low-level.
