Yep, heard about this app. Haven't used it yet though, but seems like I will.

Android was designed to never really be turned all the way off anyways so there really is no need to fully turn the thing off unless some apps start acting up and you want a fresh boot. The tablet will last days on battery power just sitting there not being used

but that is just the start of this app...under the same condition of when the tablet looses power I have set actions to: disable bluetooth, disable wifi, and Pause the current playing track. When the tablet regains power I have set conditions to enable bluetooth, enable wifi, and open up the music app...
I see. Yes, it makes sense. If you turn everything off (might probably as well kill all the running apps except the launcher), the system itself won't be eating much battery. But I guess I will still need some emergency power button access. Now I understand why you drilled that little hole.
Well, I guess this approach could be used until I'll figure out some way to "press" that power button automatically.

Thanks for a very detailed answer!

Now you've got me thinking - maybe I shouldn't have wasted my time this week inventing a cooling solution for my car PC, which keeps rebooting because of overheating, but instead replaced that cumbersome many-piece machinery with a nice small tablet?

Probably 5 first posts? I guess recent spam attacks on the forum might also cause enforcing some stricter rules.

That's funny - I couldn't find your reply at the end of the thread, and only when re-read all the posts from the beginning found that message, which was added earlier today, but posted only now. Took me some time to undertsand why it was this way.

I'm using a PAC ROEM-NIS2 which is used to hook up aftermarket stereos to the stock Bose amp which is located in the trunk. So the only sound control I have is on the tablet but the pre-amp voltage out of the headphone jack just isnt enough to really power the system....sooo thats why I'm installing that EQ

Well that past couple days it has been extremely hot in my area and I'm beginning to get worried about the temp of the tablet especially the battery temp...it rose to about 130 degrees F yesterday from my car just sitting in the sun all day. Android is supposed to have a fail safe that turns everything off once a certain temp is met but I didnt see that happen lol currently I'm trying to figure out a way to have the system completely shut off once it reaches a certain temp using Llama. What kind of cooling solution did you come up with for your setup?

Exactly! The dash is getting really hot on a sunny day. I don't know how it may affect the "sleeping" tablet.

Can Llama check the temperature as well?

Heh... Nothing special really. First I put a bigger radiator on that Atom (cut an old one from P-II in half ). That didn't really help much without fans, so now I put two fans there, and also replaced the regular HDD with an SSD, which should run cooler. The problem is - I used a very compact case (M350) because it fits perfectly in the niche in my console behind the screen, and I didn't want to construct a custom case. But with M2-ATX PSU squeezed inside there is no room in that enclosure, so I had to be inventive.
But it's so retro now... I will definitely replace that with Android soon.

very, very clean. Sounds Like you really did some homework. I'm a newb here but it seems like a dual core is overkill sort of. The android, maybe running linux would do just fine (I think). a few questions if you don't mind.

-Is there any carPC front ends for the android? or are you just sticking with the regular android interface?

-In you hunting, did you find any 7 " tablet with BT phone synchronization?

-Did you base your decision at all on the processor? If so, what good & best bang for the buck? *(I'm on a budget)

    - Can you ad USB ports and get all the functionality of a windows /Cetrafuse setup? (I.E. sound cards, Fusion brain, whatever...)

    Thanks much, D-
