Thread: HiJackZX1 UAMCB (Urban Assult Mobile Command Base) ft. The Tobiathin Core.

Thanx guys...... Its coming along very fast. Wont be done by my bday like I wanted, but it will be very close. I got to together the 5V car chargers I riped apart for the previous car pc. I have seven 5V 1a chargers. These will power the hdmi/vga converters. Then I have nine 5V 2a chargers. These will be for the 7 Android PC units, ethernet switch, and GPS puck. The GPS for the car is a USB BU-353, but I made a special USB extension cable. Basically I detached the power wires (red/black) and only left data. Then I added a external psu. I want the puck to stay on all the time. I hate waiting for GPS lock. Because I have a monster battery in my trunk, I can power a quite a bit before killing the battery. That brings me to the next always on item. The shared Android PC will also always me on. I do not mind the personal units having to start back up all the time, but the mainly used one I want to be available fast. Because of the big battery in the rear, the Car PC can stay in hybrid sleep mode, so it will come on quick. The last and final always on item will be the tablet. I want it to always be charged and ready to go.

I wanted you guys to know that I do have some stuff for Car PC I dont need. XM Direct, Visteon HD Radio, Mitch's UAS and other odds and ends that I do not require. This includes the TMPS and all 5 sensors. Never been used so have no idea if the sensors are still good. The TPMS is still found by Centrafuse. I was trying to hold on for maybe an Android app, but Lok says his BT version will use a whole new unit and not be backward compatible. So I decided to switch tactics and go with a unique system.

As you know I have a camera system, it monitors all sides of my car. Front, left, right, rear, and cabin. I have a dedicated rear view screen that shows me the left, right and rear all the time, while the system records all cameras. The screen I use has the ability to merge those 3 cameras onto one screen, placing the images in their respective places on the screen. There are 4 inputs, but yet it can only display 3 at a time. Turns out 4th is for rear backing up. Basically you connect a wire to the reverse wire and when its triggered, it switches the screen to input 4. So I was browsing and all of a sudden I ran into a TPMS that links to your in car DVD screen. It also comes with a wire that when it has a warning, it releases a warning, but also triggers the screen to switch to it so you can see. So I decided to marry the two. The camera system will now be the all around safety system. Not only monitoring my car and recording, but also monitoring my tires pressure and temperature. My B-Day (Jan 4th) gift to me!

Wow that sounds great. Can I ask which screen your using that merges the cameras? I am sure you posted it and I have overlooked it somewhere but I am looking for something similar. Also hoping it has a HDMI version as well.

As far as the wired keyboards are concerned, I decided to keep it. I also changed my wired order to wireless. They all run on the 2.4RF receivers, but you can actually pair each device to its receiver. No cross talk.

Here is another update. I worked on the rear fuse panel today. Took me awhile because I didnt want any mistakes. Everything is fused correctly. Everything has its correct PSU also. Everything is secured using crimp connectors, etc. So I dont have to worry about something coming undone later. Most of the devices back there are controlled via the car pc psu, which triggers a relay in the front (for the four front screens) and two relays in the rear for everything else. The only thing connected to direct (always on) power is the shared media pc, tablet, and GPS.

Ok, I have been testing the ipazz passport on the SS808. Honestly, these things work awesome. The SS808 recognizes it natively. Scrolling, swiping, etc, is very easy even though this is not multitouch. Its just like using it on a phone, except the screen is detached and in front of you. I think the passengers will be much happy with these devices then a TS. Also at 17.00 per keyboard, its a much better wallet friendly upgrade. My concern was that there would be cross talk. Turns out that you can pair each keyboard to its dongle. So all seats get wireless. As for charging, I am going to have a 7port hub that is always powered, it will be for nothing but charging these key boards.

Today was an awesome occasion. I connected the amp system, which is all attached to the sub box. I started up everything and the Car PC would not turn on. In the end, my OPUS 320 is dead. It suffered a lot of abuse, so it didn't shock me. I decided on the M4-ATX since its smaller, has better connections, and was cheaper. The Car PC really doesn't need 320 watts. Especially since all it is doing is providing media storage, amp control, gps, 7.1 SS, internet, and media storage.

Something go did come from all of this though. In the past I was using mini-pac units to act as switches for the KVMP units. I decided to plug the dongle from the new iPazzPort keyboards, just to see what it does. Surprisingly it works. Now I can X-out tons of cabling. So the driver only needs 1 Ethernet cable, passenger will get one also. But the second and third row only need 2 single runs. This is for the head phone jacks. Now this was a test without being able to see what the unit is doing. The keyboard obviously works, but will the mouse work? We will see once the M4 comes.

Opus is most def messed up. I apply power to the Opus and all accessories immediately turn on, the car pc doesn't. Something else has come up also. I use powered VGA splitters to get the image of the secondary PC onto all the screens. For some reason the image is green. I do not think its the device itself, so that leaves the HDMI to VGA converters, and or VGA splitters or even the KVMP switches. Even worse it could be all the above. I am going to assume its the VGA splitters. If not I plan to design something and start Xing out components I do not need.

So the Opus committed suicide but not before taking out some of your other gear? Damn the luck.
