My goal with the whole Car PC venture was to build a solution that was filled with entertainment and mobile applications. Originally I wanted to go a full PC route, but the fact of the matter is the Car PC format is changing (dying). Having a PC setup is almost silly when you think about it, all though mine uses one for certain tasks. The standard user doesn't need it. They are big, filled with cables, and usually have to have everything done from scratch to work, and most of the time it doesnt work correctly.
Android/iPhone devices are built to be mobile. In the past though, they were limited by speed and connections. With the release of Android 3.0 and up, that hurdle has been destroyed and I have decided to take advantage of it.
I introduce to you the new and improved Tobiathin Core, which consists of the following:
1x Ainol Novo 7 Flame Android 4.0 Tablet
1x SainSmart SS808 (MK808) Mini PC Android 4.1
6x Android 4 Mini PC MK802
1x Lilliput
1x MTSVO-SC K301,
4x VM70 screens
1x Eonon 19in
7x SANOXY HDMI to VGA and Audio Converter
1x C2G / Cables to Go 52065 Audio Crossplay
1x USB OBD2
1x Premium HDMI 2 Ports Mini Switch
6x IOGEAR MiniView Extreme Multimedia KVMP Switch
6x Mini-Pac Keyboard Emulators (for KVMP hotkey switching)
6x iPazzPort Mini Keyboard/Touch Pad/Mouse Combo (replaces passenger touchscreens)
6x Mini Amps for headphone jacks
1x Zotac GF9300-G-E Mobo
1x INTEL C2D E8200
2x 2GB RAM Sticks
1x OCZ Vertex 2 SSD
1x ASUS Xonar DX 7.1
1x Pheonix SOHO Echo cancellation card
2x Powered VGA splitters
1X USB Relay
1x Stereo Mic
1x BT Dongle
2x 400 watt Amps
1x 1500 watt Amp
1x Kicker Subwoofer
1x Battery
Im sure I am leaving off one or two things, but this is most of it. In the next post I will explain how it all works.

So the big question is, will the MK802, MK808, work with a touch screen? As we know, most Android devices use a multi-touch screen. Problem is most of us have VGA 4-wire touch screens. My car has six of them and I refuse to flush that money down the toilet. So I asked the almighty Google for help. It gave me this: http://source.android.com/tech/input/touch-devices.html. So from reading it, Android has the drivers built in.
So I got the unit home, plugged it up to my HDTV, plugged in the touch screen. I waited and suddenly saw a mouse cursor pop up on the screen. I took a deep breath and slowly moved my finger across the surface. Guess what happened! The cursor moved with my finger. So now anyone can have a Car PC for $50.00! BWWHAHAHAHAHAHA. Oh, but wait, something isnt right. I touch left, it goes left. I touch right, it goes right. I touch up, it goes down.... WTF. I touch down, it goes up.... Oh h3ll no. Always has to be something.
So now I have posted in the XGA forums for help. They say there is a calibration file in Android. Maybe I can change a configuration file. I am sure this is a hurdle that is easy to get over. I mean h3ll, at least it worked at all. This si the first time an assumption has worked out for me. God knows with the PC install, I was always hitting major walls.
I want to add that the device has to be Android 3.0 and up, and have USB Host Debugging.

Awesome stuff. Do you know if the MK808 supports bluetooth dongle on the USB host port?
Either way, I have to disagree with a car computer for $50. One does need a display![]()

I know, I was being silly. But it is close. I have seen tables that go for about $50.00. They run Gingerbread, which in my opinion is useless. They have run ICS or JB to be useful in the car.

I also wanted to list another issue I am having. I can not get my Lilliput to work on this setup. All it shows is a single color. I think maybe the resolution is way to high, problem is I can seem to get it down. Even when I set it to 480P it sat weird, but I could see it. Whats worse is now I dont have the option to adjust the definition because I messed up the device and reflashed with their latest ROM. The ROM added a lot of features, but also took some. These devices come rooted, so I'm very nervous. One wrong program and the thing is useless until you reflash.

OMG, I ignored the your question. Bluetooth functionality is lacking and it doesn’t have support for connected bluetooth dongles as well, so that means you can’t use your PS3 sixaxis controller on it, yet, or hook it up with bluetooth stereo. I hope that doesnt mean that it doesnt have USB Host Debugging. If yes, then I cant use a USB Hub and other devices.
I got that from a review of the device.
It will, Android was made for this.

Android will work for what you want; on the other hand, some of us have other needs, which Android doesn't handle as yet. I'll post my planned build elsewhere in the forums so you'll understand where I'm coming from.

What feature are you looking to do? I mean my install has to do a lot. Mind you, its only for multimedia, so I dont need to control things with it. All though I did see they have things to control the Arduino thingy.
I think what is happening is the MK802 is putting out a really high resolution. I connected it to my VGA PC screen and it says "Out of range". The Car PC screen just gets iffy and turns a color. I am praying I find a solution for this.
As for the other issue, the touchscreen inputs being inverted for up and down. Cant I just take apart the screen and flip two wires?
