    Some progress:
I took, the ultra mini small WIRED KBD and a piece of plexiglass.

Matched both so that they fit nice

Then aplied foil to the plexiglass

    Some more drilling

And wiring (up - modded, down - stock)

    Replaced bulbs with LED strip

    Assembled everything

And VOALA - a USB Wired illuminated sun-blind keyboard:

    ENJOY

That is so cool! I have purchased seven or eight different keyboards for my carpc so far, and have never found one as small as that. Excellent work blending it in and hiding it in the visor.Name: 134.gif

OK, The controller for the reverse camera is done.
I used a standard timer PCB based on 555 chip with two buttons - start and force stop. I moded it a bit and.... voala:

I plan to make a sticker for it. Hahah why not A Volvo factory stickers style saying: RCC - Reverse Camera Controller.

    What it does:
    1. The PCB is powered by IGN logic
    2. When I put a reverse gear the inner relay engages and gives power to the cam and the LCD. If nothing changes after 160 sec the relay disengages but if meanwhile I put on 2-nd gear the relay disengages immediately.
So for a period of 160 sec I can switch between reverse and 1-st gear as many times as I want and no annoying thing will happen. But if I start driving ahead I don't need to do anything special to stop the rear-view.

Excellent use for that part...I've got a few of those timers laying around but I only got the 10sec ones....the mods on the bottom does that increase the delay from standard they come with?

    Nope, there are 3 thing I did/mod.
    1. Powered the relay by the power of the PCB itself. just cut some of the trace and soldered, but I left some on the other side, so that I could use the connector for something else.
    2. Replaced the start button with optocoupler. The button was giving GND, so it was easy. I placed an 560 ohm resistor and this way when the light from the reverse is on the optocoupler will act as a pushed start button.
    3. cut the relay's NC pin and use it's plug for connection for force-stop button.

    I'll make a better picture ...

About the 10 sec timers - change the capacitor and or resistor and you can make it's wilder, but not very accurate...

Тerms in english in electronics are hard to say, so sorry about the explanations in previous posts.

This the photo I was talking about:

p.s. But everything depends on what exact model timer somebody has in his hands

Looks good.Appreciate those pics...I'm a visual learner most times....optocoupler sound like somthing I can use in another project.I'm a sheet metal man on muscle cars so electronics are very left field for me....but I'm learning....slowly.I will have a play with my spare timers and see what I can do.cheers!

camo.b, if you need any assistance just ask. I'm a beginner, too, but I'll do my best to help you

Davefocus, here are two videos made for you. Note that I'm filming with my phone camera, which is not a very good one ...
More: Originally I've placed the camera on the car for viewing my rear bumper, not for making videos in DVR style. I forced it in most upper position possible for you, but this is the best I can do.

Daytime, 16:20-16:30. It's about to get dark but not yet. No direct sun at all. It's cloudy here, and no sunny days in next few months are expected.
