Here are pics of where I am at currently.

Got the circuit boards and stuffed one and installed it.

The switching works, but I have a horizontal sync problem I am working on.

Here is my "dev lab" lol.

Here is a pic of the problem.

    Too many sync pulses.

I am gonna try a decade counter to try to get it down to every third sync pulse and maybe gate the RGB data.

Failing that, I will replace the display with something more friendly.

Cutting down the # of sync pulses may not be the viable option.

Rather then "dumb down" the video from the computer to the OEM display I may see if the OEM video data is "smart" enough to sync up at the lower rate to a better display.

It appears the OEM display is severely limited in capability.

There is more then one way to skin a cat.

Got another chip to add to the mix.

This will give me a horz & vert sync pulse.

    Hope the data syncs up!

Had to order parts (China) and taking some time to do some other projects.

Will have progress report when I make some!

    Progress update.

The OEM display just can't handle the bandwidth necessary for a minimum resolution computer display IMO.

    So........

I am going to use a RGB to NTSC convertor to make the OEM info readable (hopefully) through the composite video input of the 800 x 600 TFT display I got from China.

Just getting frustrated with trying to interface the OEM data to the new display via RGB because of timing issues.

Did you ever get the converter to work for you? Working on my carputer in an 05 and would like to keep the stock info & warnings available.

I had to take a break from this project and the delay in getting info from China suppliers (who feign ignorance when convenient) is pretty frustrating.

However, I plan on working on it this month as the weather is better (I will not work well when cold) and I am over the flu.

    Some progress.

I actually got a semblance of the OEM screen to display on my ext display!

It is now a matter of determining the frequencies of the horz and vert sync frequencies after separating them from the composite sync.

    What a PITA.
