That is not the factory screen.

That was the "showstopper" for the project and had to go.

The resolution could not handle the bandwidth required.

    Ran into my first "bug".

The unit will not display a DVD run in the OEM radio, but will run the map disc for the navigation, which uses the same slot.

Obviously the DVD video is not run through my interface in the correct resolution.

This may have to do with how the blanking is set.

It doesn't matter so long as the map works.

The DVD looks much better coming from the Mac anyway.

doh, i read that i guess it just slipped my mind that you had to go with the custom screen. i applaud you for trying to use the factory one

yeah, i think that is a minor bug too. how many dvd movies are you going to watch in your car anyway. there was a time where i almost put a gaming video card in my car computer... but i stopped myself and really thought- when the hell am i going to sit here and play 3d games?

    WHOO HOO!

Ran the optical cable to a 5.1 decoder and watched a movie while tuning the sounds.

Tried a memory stick full of tunes and it works.

The Itunes program has a volume control and an equalizer even.

    This is working out.

Here are pictures of the install.

I had to put the rescaler board up top of the radio with the A/C outlets.

I found a neat holder on Amazon for the Mac Mini.

    What a hassle.

The board solved the problem and now all I have to do is tweak it a bit.

Now I can take the OEM data and display it on a remote or upgraded display.

    The carputer lives!

awesome job man, that's really nice integration, what board did you use for the rgb conversion, is it the newegg one you listed?

    Thanks for the compliments.

I used the board from NEWEGG as a "proof of concept".

For the install I used one off Ebay that is about $30.00.

I had to remove all the connectors to get it to fit, but it fit.

Here are pictures of the CNX-P1900 power supply installed in the center console.

There is a mini USB jack also for a USB volume control (MP3car.com )

Also shown is the harness and plugins to the Mini Mac.

    Getting done!
