    It wasn't a Geo Metro I assume?

I've got a custom made rear bumper on mine made from 1/2" thick steel plate. I also bolted a couple of 8 " thick rubber bumpers on the steel plate.

My last truck had a similar setup. It was rear ended 3 times total. The cost to repair it amounted to the cost of a can of black epoxy spray-paint as all that happened was the paint got chipped a bit.

The car wasn't all that big, some newer honda hatch. But the guy who hit it evidently didn't even hit the brakes before he made contact ~40mph. Hit it so hard he moved the truck forward 20ft. while it was in gear! He lived, but left in an ambulance, and not much was left of his car. As far as damage, it raked the side and back a bit, tweaked the left rear axle, broke the left rear leaf spring mount, and probably a few other things I've yet to discover.

Ya tell me about it, I was joking with my roommate though when it happened saying he should have snuck his pregnant wife into the backseat right afterwards, we could have cashed out bigtime. :P
