Finally got my Nexus 7 in. The project now begins. I need to think about the audio integration and power.

So.. last night I took my Nexus Tab apart and did just a lil experiment. Its been with my experience with my last tablet or any computer for that matter there are always those moments, even if rare, that you need to hard boot your system. With that said, I plan to connect an extended momentary switch to my Nexus Tablet. I am planning the install to remain just like in my last car. I have no need for the tablet outside of the car..that's what my smartphone is for (speaking for myself). Anywho, my test worked and I was able to get one of my old switches from two projects ago and held the wires to the connectors the tablet then pressed the button. Voila! the tablet powered up. I can do a short press and get my popup to choose the boot type also. Nothing special here but at least I proved to myself that I can do it.
A lil pic with the back cover off.
I just got the monitor for my cameras in today. That's great considering it was coming from China and only ordered it barely a week or so ago. Getting closer to having the cameras installed. I just need to get the cameras first.
I also scheduled to have my vinyl wrapped next week. So I cannot wait for that.
Here is a pic and video demoing my LED's. The white LED's only come one with my dome lights. The amber come on with the turn signals. I have strips on the passenger side and driver side. You really have to experience them at night, but that's hard to film.
Got my monitor in. It's the same one I had in my last car. I'm thinking about adding the fourth camera in this car. Last time I only had three cameras. One on the driver side, one on the passenger side and one on the roof facing the rear. This time I will do the same but also add the fourth camera for reverse only. This one will be mounted lower. The monitor has built-in functionality to auto-toggle to the fourth camera input for reverse. I'm getting excited..
I am going to be quite busy. I ordered the Lilliput HDMI touchscreen so I can test out the MIMICSX2 with my Galaxy S4. Yes. If all goes well I do plan to find a way to implement this also. I am thinking of mounting on the center console at the bottom of the dash below my temperature controls. It will be more of a backup means of entertainment in case I am doing some type of crazy development on my tab requiring me to remove it temporarily or what ever. It's nice to always have a back up.
I got my wireless charger in. Needless to say it does not work with my tablet...but should for my Galaxy S4 so at least it wont be a total waste. I ordered a different one this time it specifically indicates it works with Nexus 7.
I also ordered a RAM Touch-Hub. There are a few of these types of devices available online but this one particularly appealed to me. Here's the link to the site with details on it if anyone is interested. - http://www.rammount.com/NewProducts/...6/Default.aspx
I'm getting closer to deciding on my cameras. I also am in the process of rooting my Nexus. I already unlocked it. In addition, I cancelled the service on my old Galaxy tab and got a MiFi. We shall see how that works out. So many goodies..my new project is getting closer to fab and mod time...I'm getting antsy.
