50 yrs. later...I finally rooted my Nexus 7. The drama ended up being my Windows 8 Pro 64bit OS. After days of trying on there I went back to my Windows 7 and was able to root just fine using the Wugs Nexus Root Toolkit. Now its time to customize...

I just received my Lilliput 669GL with HDMI. This will be used with the MimicsX2 module to control my Galaxy S4 with. As I mentioned a few posts back this will serve as a secondary means for my mobile entertainment. My Nexus tablet is primary. The cool thing is this weekend will be pack full of adventure as I work on testing this MimicsX2 thing out. I have heard good and not so good things about it..but I prefer to have my own experience.

The only thing I don't like about the Nexus 7 is the screen brightness under sunlight, the 2nd generation is much better at this.

I successfully hacked open my lilliput, updated the firmware and connected the Mimics2X. Then I was able to pair it with my Galaxy S4. Not too shabby. Anywho. Over the weekend I will clean things up and put it back together with the Mimics module. Time to order some momentary switches. I need one for the tablet and one for the Mimics.

I only recently learned about the wireless hdmi adapters. I may try one of these. I will stay clear from the samsung all share one though. I read way too may negatives. Usually I dismiss them but this I will make an exception and look at a different one.

During my research this morning I found a solution for the hdmi connection from my S4. There are tons adapters available online that allow you to connect micro USB to HDMI. While that's all well and good the key for me is that the Samsung has a not so standard port so the MHL adapter I just purchased from my local electronics store has an additional adapter pin specifically for the Samsung smartphones (Note, S3/4, etc).

Hey it works! This will simplify how I have to dock my phone also.

    This is the adapter:

This is it in testing mode:

I was able to root my Nexus 7 (v2 2013) using the Wugs toolkit on Windows 8 pro 64. Unchecking "custom recovery" did the trick it seems. Unfortunately, NONE of the custom ROMS will load on the Nexus. Tried everything available on the CM site and the USBROM mentioned on another thread on this board. Nothing works on the latest Nexus, so far.

Oh well, patience, I guess. Continue work on Centrafuse for Android while I wait for a stable ROM.
