    Android Mount in 2013 Altima

If it isn't my project that evolves, it's my car. My old thread for upgrading my In-Dash Galaxy Tab in my 2009 Altima has now been shifted to my new 2013 Altima.

I will post updates and ideas soon for my exciting new car. Why mod my cool new car you ask? Well... because that's what we do!

p.s. - I thought I would just call this thread Android Mount in 2013 Altima because this really could be either my smartphone, which is the plan or tablet which was the old project.

In the tradition of my other threads I usually like to show some before pics so you get an idea on where this is all starting.

    The Touchscreen

MP3Car store has the double din touchscreen kit which fits 2013 Altima. So that minimizes the fabbing needed and that's a good thing.

    MimicsX2

I know this may be a bit more configuration type work to use that but once complete expect in the long run I will have more options to explore if I decide to design something different for my install. If I do not like how this works then worse case I go back to my tablet install.

I already have the MimicsX2 for Android and CustomGadz verified that its compatible with my Galaxy S4.

Well I learned something new last night...I must have been living under a rock at the bottom of a mountain to the left behind the moss above the river...

You now many are all about the LED light upgrades on their cars. I started doing that back in 2006 on my 2005 Altima. In any case, if you know about LED's on cars or maybe you don't, if you replace them on your turn signals you get this really cool effect (not really..) called hyper flashing. They blink really really fast. Well to resolve that you have to install resistors to calm the mad blinking. Well thats all well and good but that just more stuff to install and wire. I found out only last night that they are starting to fabricate the LED bulbs with the resistors built in. That means all you have to worry about is installing the bulb. No extra wiring fun and mounting of resistors required. This is a good thing and simplifies things for me.

I ordered one pair to see how they work out for me. I will be replacing my front turn signal bulbs with Amber LED's. If those work as desired I will replace my rear bulbs as well.

    Out with the Old..Cameras..

In my old project I had 3 external cameras installed on my 2009 Altima. One on the driver side, one on passenger side and one on the roof facing rear. Well those I let go with my car when I traded it in yesterday.. I am posting my youtube video below so you can see how it was in action. I am also posting pics of the old cameras.

Cameras and 3-way split Mirror Monitor in Action. So what makes this especially sad is I have yet to find this monitor anywhere and it seems to be only available out of China..and every site I came across that has it in their store show "Temporarily Unavailable"..whatever that means. So I am thinking about what I am going to do to develop a similar solution possibly and most likely not using the same monitor.

These are the pics of the old cameras.

I stumbled across these cameras that seem to be cool as the mount comes in white which is the color of my car. That would be great. I am trying to find out more information about them from the seller. I would like a better photo with scale so I have a better idea on their size. It's also marketed as CCD but I want to make sure it's not really CMOS.

    Replacing the Factory Radio

While the new Altima has some nice new features...finally up with the times but if you're like me and I know you are because you are perusing this forum then you know that the factory radio will have to go. I like the factory implementation of bluetooth and other thingys but they still do not satisfy the TechieGadgetFreak in me. With that said I am posting my video from youtube that I posted a while ago explaining what I did to connect my tablet to my car speakers. I plan to do basically the same thing only this time I am hoping to use strictly bluetooth with the option of jack-2-rca as a backup if needed. I am hoping to acquire another of these mini amps I mentioned in my video. If I can't then I will have to come up with another solution. My goal is to try to keep it simple..not necessarily meaning that the initial mod will be very simple but after it's done and implemented any future additions or updates to the audio or Android device will be simple.

    Here's my video.

Did I mention that I am going to de-badge my car also? I did this with my last car and had it vinyl wrapped. I will be having this car wrapped as well. Since it is white I figured why not just go ahead and do the white carbon fiber. So this will be done on the hood, roof and trunk.

That looks really nice and i will follow along as you update us. The vinyl is something I will be doing to my car as well but it will take some time.
