    This is pretty awesome Sonicxtacy02! I've never really looked into android but this is an eye opener. Just had a question for you. What is the most current hardware right now to go this route? I ask because I might consider switching over from carpc to this. I like the small footprint and I can imagine this uses apps just like an android phone/tablet? Do you have any suggestion for capacitive multi touch touchscreen that could also offer a rear camera input with auto switch? Hopefully something with options in sizes like 8" or 9"
    I'll be keeping my eyes open for those odroid

    and if you want to edit the psd: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8q...it?usp=sharing

    Use Boot Image Factory on Windows to prepare your .zip image. Its a great app

    I personally only know about HardKernel products, their latest boards are the U3 and XU3. The XU3 is an 8-core processor board and is the newest. My board, the X2, looks like will soon be discontinued, but I've NEVER had any performance issues with it being "only" a quad core. Check out the specs on their latest stuff here http://www.hardkernel.com/main/main.php

    I personally use the 7" Xenarc 700CSH capacitive multi-touch, and I honestly blown away every time I use it. After YEARS with the resistive Lilliput 669, its like a night and day difference. It offers all the features you want but is only 7 inches. I don't know of any 8 or 9 inch models that will work though. If you're looking for a screen for one of these ARM/Android boards here's what I'd suggest based on experience:

    -capacitive multi-touch (there's some things in Android you just cant do with single touch)
    -NATIVE 720p or 1080p resolution on the screen. Lilliputs 669s don't do native 720p resolution and as a result you have to downscale to their 800x600 or 800x480 resolutions. Dont know if Lilliputs capacitive model does 720p as I dont have one.

    Works now, thanks! I had never really heard of the MonkeyBoard before, that looks really cool. I especially like the guy's project that controlled it with Android over bluetooth using an HC-05 bluetooth module. How were you planning to integrate it?

    The XU3 looks really cool but the way they call it octa-core is a little disingenuous. It's got a 4-core A7 CPU and a 4-core A15 CPU which it makes use of in low-power and demanding situations respectively versus the U3/X2 which only had a 4-core A9 CPU. I wish the wife-acceptance-factor was higher on buying more development boards + capacitive touchscreens as I'd like to put one in our second vehicle.

    Very much looking forward to the progress of this project.

    That's awesome! I was looking at their website and notice the xu3. Would going with that board means problems with some hardware like gps antenna and such?

    Well first, the XU3 isn't available yet; it doesn't ship until August. And second, you may have to recompile the kernel in order to have the proper driver support for a USB GPS like the BU-353-S4 which Sonicxtacy02 is using; chances are it's already built-in though.

    * EDIT *

    You may want to look here for more ODroid developer information.
