    Screenshot looks nice!

Are you planning to use this over local WiFi in the car, or over the Internet?
I have a Verizon Jetpack permanently installed in the car and a Wifi Shield for the Arduino, so in theory I should be able to control the car anywhere that has cellular reception. I've already got the PHP scripting done on my server so it should just be a matter of getting the hardware hooked up (which admittedly is my weakness, I only know the basics of electrical components and how they work together)

Small setback today as I received my Monkeyboard antenna adapter. Completely forgot that Android doesn't pass line-in to audio-out playback, so i'll have to mix the Monkeyboard audio out at the Amp. Shame the Monkeyboard doesnt output audio over the USB line

Mitch has a nice little piece of hardware that picks up to 4 line in and 1 line out. It's for windows, but any chance that could be used for android?

I didnt have to do any of that, in fact, the last time I tried to do anything with that SiRFDemo software it bricked my GPS device. All I did was download the android PL-2303 app and run it at boot. The only other thing i had to do is set Android to allow mock location.

I actually beta tested that device and it would be a good option but it presents 2 obstacles:
    1. No android support that i know of (Though it uses a standard HID driver i believe)
    2. I would still need the radio control application to control the switching on that device

I'm gonna contact Mitch and see if he can help me get it setup in Android, but then I'd have to create my own Radio app to complete the job.

Using a battery pack like that works, but in application there are problems I could not overcome. Fact is, I don't drive my car enough to fully recharge a 13000mAh battery @ 5v. The batteries efficiency was always limited by the the fact I was never powering the system with a surplus of power (powering the ODROID with that battery pack fully charged).

Eventually, I'll take the time to reinstall my secondary battery and isolator, but honestly for now just having the ODROID boot with ignition hasn't been much of a problem for me. Either way I go though, I'm gonna have to find a solution that will resume my last playing media source when I am ready to drive off. I'll probably need a custom application to make this happen.
Fair enough, I didn't even consider that. Typically I have already bought one, but had a look around and managed to find one that apparently charges at 1.5 amps.

Looks the like u3 can pull 1.5 amps at full load with a mouse and keyboard attached (unsure how much this would add?)

Edit: Just had a thought, not sure how to implement, but those batteries should do a good while for the odroid, maybe some sort of system where the odroid uses the car's power when it is in use and charges the batteries, and switches to battery power when ignition is lost. Might be worth a separate thread.

Just thought I would add that I worked out my gps it was the tomtom app causing the trouble not the gps receiver I installed a free navigation app from the store and it works fine. I have to use the gps app "you are here" to get the data from the gps receiver to the navigation app and will need to figure out some way to automate it have heard you can do that sort of thing with tasker but have not looked into it yet.

I've been working on a similar build with the ODROID-XU (when time permits).

Curious how you're handling powering off now that you're using ignition switched DC DC power supplies and no battery pack.

Are you just cutting power to the ODROID?

If so, any plans to change that, or are you going to leave it as is?

I was looking into the possibilities of doing a graceful shutdown before cutting power, but haven't had time to test anything yet.

Also wondering about power off most of the time I just pull the plug but sometimes when I reboot it comes back as a blank green screen and I need to unplug plug the hdmi cable to get picture back wondering about a more graceful shutdown startup method. Cant be plugging and unplugging stuff when its in the dash. I am using the u2 but may switch to the xu2 when its available.

Green screen comes from a poor signal from screen to odroid. What screen are u using? Are you using any hdmi adapters?

    extra info

So far have only had the problem on my monitor its a 144hz Asus 3d monitor perhaps that has something to do with it. No HDMI adapters I have a seven inch screen I'm trying to source a capacative touch overlay for so far have not had the green screen on it just don't want it happening after its installed in dash.

The green screen reared its head on my small 7 inch screen as well this morning not sure how I can get around it.
