2004 Jetta Sport Edition - Windows 8.1 Tablet CarPC

    Hey guys!

Just a quick little bit about me, I'm from Hamilton Ontario and have done a fair amount of work in car audio and alarm systems in the past. I've been thinking about doing a CarPC build for awhile now and after doing some research I've decided to go through with it!

At first I was planning on using an old laptop with a broken screen and putting an SSD in it, when I found a a 7" tablet for an unbeatable price. This would also make it simple to have the tablet be remove able from the car.

The tablet I've decided to go with is a Hipstreet W7 Windows 8.1 tablet, for a front end I've decided to use Centrafuse. Currently I've installed MapFactor Navigator and a basic OBDII reader.

I've also purchased a Vantec 7.1 USB Sound Card (NBA-200U), the front and surround outputs will connect to a 4 channel amp for my door speakers, the center/sub will run to the mono block amp and drive the subs. I'm planning on running a 3.5mm audio cable from the line in connection and having a female end in a button blank located above the tablet to use as an AUX input. I'll also run a small microphone to the map lights for use in phone calls

Laying around I had a Microsoft GPS-500 USB GPS that I'll use alongside MapFactor's Navigator

Lastly, a 10 port powered USB hub to run all my devices and hopefully charge the tablet

    To Order:
OBD II Reader, unsure if I want to pickup a basic one, or purchase a Vagcom from Ross Tech.
I'm thinking about 2 webcams, 1 to act as a dashcam and the other as a reverse camera

I've got a running list of what I've purchased, the price I paid for them, and where I got them in a good docs spreadsheet located here: Click Me!
I'll be updating it tomorrow with some of the things I haven't included yet.

Kudos for the thread. The attachments do not work for me so I cannot see what you are trying to show. I am curios, are you using a tablet or a laptop? If you are using a tablet, how do you sync up so many peripheries?

I'll fix the images when I get home from work, they did work when I previewed the post.
I found a 10 porn usb hub that would allow me to plug all the peripherals into it, they jey is that its a powered hub so its not relying on the small amount of power from the tablet to run them all. This also means that I'm going to have to find a way to run both the tablet charger and the powered USB hub from the car battery

You can use something like this to power that hub and you could add another to power your tablet if it takes 5v as well Good luck SNO

Lastly, an AVerMedia AVerTV Volar Hybrid Q TV/Radio Tuner; it has a coax input and came with a small coax antenna, the antenna works just not very well I'm hoping I'll be able to cut the end off my car antenna and crimp on a coax connection

Now I need to plan out how I'm going to actually mount the tablet in my dash while having it both sturdy and removable

Where did you buy that usb splitter? Does it work? I have the same problem: my tablet has only one micro usb input and I need to connect an external hdd while charging the tablet...

I have very little experience with Windows tablets. Can you please explain what's involved in getting Centrafuse installed on one?

It's the same as with a windows desktop, the only thing you'll need to do is change the resolution once it's installed
