I'm with you, turbocad6! Those are my feelings exactly!
I hate having to row my car through the gears, especially a heavy clutch car.... I had a mustang that made my left leg bigger than my right..... now I had a supra that was so smooth that it was effortless, but still, rowing is rowing.... ****, if I could make my car drive itself I'd check that option too..
automatic is the way to go unless your talking about a high performance enthusiast type ride.... I wouldn't want my 'rossa to be automatic, but a commuter daily driver? auto all the way....
MY NEWEST INSTALL:modded infiniti fx with big screen

2000 Lexus GS300 - MP3Car Newb - Project in the works! (both Carputer and single turbo 2JZ-GTE)
wow! this thread has gone off topic
Anyways, I figured out the problem with why the board did not want to be recognized all the time. There didn't need to be an r8 resister. Removing it solved the problem![]()
Hey guys... My father just gave me his '93 lexus sc300. The vehicle is in great shape with about 100,000 miles on it. It is currently garaged about an hour from my home as it has never been driven during November-late March. I can't wait to get my hands on it in the next couple of weeks so I can install a carputer.
I am totally new to every aspect of this type of project. I have never even installed a car stereo. The good news is I have a lot of time and I'm motivated to make it look great.
My plan is to install a touchscreen that will control a mac mini with GPS, and all of the obvious mac mini stuff. I haven't decided if I want to go for a stock look and install the screen where the stock radio resides, or if there is somewhere else I can install the screen... I don't want to get in over my head.
I was really excited to find this thread as the SC Dash certainly presents a lot of problems that are not present with other cars.
Does anybody have any suggestions on an easy way for a first timer to install a touchscreen and wire it to my mac mini? I was thinking about fitting the mac mini in the glovebox with an fm transmitter.. that way I wouldn't have to touch the stock stereo.
Please keep in mind that I am very new to all of this... any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Ways to mount the screen: Like I did, or make a housing to make it look flat (people say it will have less glare).
MAC Mini: waste of money. Can't even run a good GPS program. If you are looking for small and powerful, look at the Aopen Pandora.
I still havent seen proof that the bezel's finished.![]()
