you are correct on the 540i-6 all having the sport package, unsure of the premium. premium would be the better leather and heated seats and steering wheel, that kind of stuff. The six speed is a definate advantage, no arguments there. I've never driven a 540-6 but I'm sure it's a "theres no going back" experience as well.

I remember back in the day when my tennis teacher at the time got a 01 540i/6. When he gunned it, I was just sucked into the seat from the massive ammount of torque.

Heated stuff - it just adds weight. I'm in SoCal.... so heated seats aren't my #1 priority.

[edit]: Hmmmm.... isn't the heated stuff part of the "cold weather" package? Then what does the premium package add

again- correct, my ride has the cold weather package- I think the premium package may apply only to the i6 models, my car has it but I could not tell you what it includes, I do not have the dsp sound system- I believe the only interior option I am without. I'm a member of bimmerforums.com, I suggest you join up and troll around the five series forum there awhile- everyone there is awesome and soon you will know more about the e39 than you ever wished!

Heh.... I'm a member on bimmerforums also, I just don't have a single post. I signed up a few months back to look at the pics

About my car.... the adjuster came today and well... the car is not totalled. Adjuster is supposed to come on thursday to check for internal damages. So the car is going to be repaired, and get a 97+ front kit. Then I hope to sell it.

hmm. not bad. Just don't let them bully you on the ins., make sure the repairs are done right and with good parts, etc. I used to have a mustang and when it got rear ended I decided to replace the busted lights out of pocket, live with a dent and keep the settlement towards other stuff...

I'd recommend a lot of wet sanding on that bezel. You have the dreaded orange peel effect going on (happens to all paint). Just needs to be sanded and applied in more light coats.

I don't see any peeling going on

orange peel reffering to the rough texture of the paint, like the skin of an orange. kinda bumpy like, but nothing huge.

wet sanding will fix that, start with 2k grit, and then move up to polishing compound, stay away from raised areas, as you are more likely to rub a hole in your paint.

Redoing the bezel will be in v2. First I have to get my car back, rip it apart, and do the v1 install.

Damage: front. But the transmission shifter does not engage park properly, and it snaps out of drive when I brake hard.

Doesn't look like you hit him too hard. Good thing. It'd be a shame after all that work hah. One of my friends rear ended me after having his license for a week while we were going to my other friends. He's a nervous driver but like yeah I stopped at a stop sign after pulling off a neighborhood road onto another one going about 20 mph. and he rear ended me at the sign going like 45 somehow. He ended up twisting the rear end of the frame and pushed EVERY PART of the rear of my car forward .75 inches.

Damage was like 5,000 from a simple rear ending.
